Gallaudet University junior jumper Walter Douglas (Sanford, Fla.) erased a 33-year-old school record in the long jump as he jumped 6.64 meters (21 feet, 9.5 inches) to finish third overall at the Bow Tie Invitational last Friday night. Douglas broke Michael Cross Jr.'s old school mark of 6.63 meters (21 feet, 9 inches) set on Feb. 16, 1990, in Blacksburg, Va., at the Mason-Dixon Championship. Douglas was also of Gallaudet's first-place 4x400 meter relay team that set a new school record with a time of 3:27.58.
