Gallaudet senior jumper Hannah Wetzel (Fremont, Calif.) broke her five-year-old school record here Saturday at the Joe LaRocco Invitational hosted by Roanoke College. Wetzel placed second and cleared 1.65 meters (5 feet, 5 inches) in the high jump to set a new school record that erased her old record mark of 1.43 meters (4 feet 8.25" inches) that happened back on Feb. 2, 2019, at the Frank Colden Invitational at Collegeville, Pa. Wetzel's 1.65 meter mark is tied for 17th nationally in Division III this season.  It was a busy day for Wetzel as she participated in four total events. Wetzel finished second overall in the triple jump with a mark of 10.93 meters. Wetzel also finished eighth overall in the long jump with a mark of 5.04 meters. Over on the track, Wetzel finished 11th overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.17 seconds. This is the sixth Athlete of the Week honor for Wetzel, who previously won for the weeks of February 6, 2024, December 12, 2023, May 2, 2023, April 25, 2022, and March 28, 2022 on top of the CSAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year award in 2023.
