Gallaudet senior jumper Hannah Wetzel broke a 42-year-old school record in the long jump last Saturday at the Bison Classic. Wetzel leaped 5.41 meters to break the old mark of 5.31 meters set in 1982. Wetzel finished third in the long jump event but took first in the high jump (1.60 meters - which ties her own school record) and first in the triple jump (11.05 meters). Wetzel also finished seventh in the 200-meter dash with 26.52 time. She was also a member of GU's 4x100 meter relay team that placed second with a time of 50.98 seconds. This is the tenth Athlete of the Week honor for Wetzel, who previously was named the CSAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year award in 2023 and United East Indoor Field Athlete of the Year award for 2024.
