GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its 2014-15 Softball North and South Division All-Conference Team selections, with first and second team honors being awarded to the top 20 players for each division as selected by the conference coaches, regardless of position.
The NEAC has also announced its softball individual award winners for each division, which were also chosen by the conference coaches. In the North, SUNY Cobleskill junior Madeline DeMilio (Valhalla, N.Y.) was named the NEAC North Player of the Year for the second straight time after another outstanding season for the Fighting Tigers. The Cobleskill co-captain and leadoff hitter was sensational at the plate during the regular season, leading the conference and being fourth nationally with a .526 batting average, while also being first in the NEAC with a .557 on-base percentage and second in slugging percentage with an .856 mark during 107 plate appearances. She is also the NEAC leader in both total bases (83) and runs (43) in addition to being second in hits (51), with her totals for home runs (5), doubles (11), triples (3) and stolen bases (11) also all ranking her in the top eight across the conference, while her 1.65 runs-per-game average ranks her second nationally. She was just as strong behind the plate, posting a .967 fielding percentage through 183 chances while throwing out nine runners attempting to steal. A two-time NEAC Player of the Week selection, DeMilio also made her third straight appearance on the NEAC North All-Conference Team.
SUNY Cobleskill junior Erin Wadsworth (Valatie, N.Y.) joined her teammate as a repeat individual award winner after being named the NEAC North Pitcher of Year for the second consecutive season through an array of fantastic performances in the circle for the Fighting Tigers. Wadsworth went 9-3 with eight complete games as a starter, while also leading the NEAC with three saves. She sports a NEAC-best mark of 8.51 strikeouts per game after striking out the second-most batters in the conference (92). She also has a 1.76 ERA and has held opponents to a .216 batting average through 75.2 innings of work, which rank second and third, respectively, in the conference. Wadsworth was just as dominant at the plate, batting .377 with seven home runs, 30 RBIs and 28 runs scored in 88 at-bats en route to landing on the NEAC North All-Conference First Team for the second straight year.
Keuka College freshman Katelyn Warren (Elmira Heights, N.Y.) was tabbed as the NEAC North Rookie of the Year after an excellent first season for the Wolfpack. Warren led all rookies with a .455 batting average and a .531 on-base percentage while also slugging .607 in 61 at-bats. Appearing in all 22 Wolfpack contests, Warren drove in 18 runs on 26 hits while smacking two home runs and three doubles. She recorded a hit in 15 contests and had eight multi-hit games, while also being walked 10 times. Defensively, Warren committed no errors in 82 chances to post a perfect fielding percentage on the year, with her play helping her land on the NEAC North All-Conference First Team.
Keuka College’s Jamie Burke was named the NEAC North Coach of the Year after another fine season at the helm for the Wolfpack. Burke led the Wolfpack to a 15-5 mark in NEAC North play, which earned them the division’s top seed in the upcoming NEAC Tournament. Her pitching staff currently leads the conference in both ERA (2.37) and batting average against (.221), while her offense has produced the second-best on-base percentage (.396) and fourth-best batting average (.325). Burke also hit a milestone earlier in the season, as she earned her 200th career win as a head coach.

In the South, College of Saint Elizabeth junior Alyssabel Garcia (Cotulla, Texas) was named the NEAC South Player of the Year after a tremendous season for the Eagles. Playing in her first season with the Eagles, Garcia tallied a conference-most 40 RBIs while also smashing eight home runs and recording 87 total bases, which were both the second-best marks in the NEAC. She also had the fifth-most hits (43) and eighth-most doubles (10) across the conference, while producing a slash line of .371/.407/.664. The versatile Garcia was also stout defensively when filling in at both third base and catcher for the Eagles, as she registered a .969 fielding percentage with 100 putouts and 26 assists on her way to also being selected to the NEAC South All-Conference First Team.
Penn State Berks sophomore Megan Olsen (Mertztown, Pa.) was named the NEAC South Pitcher of the Year after a terrific season for the Nittany Lions. Olsen went 9-1 with 30 strikeouts for Berks, with eight of those wins coming against conference opponents, the second-best total within NEAC play. She issued just seven walks all season while giving up 23 earned runs through 58 innings pitched to give her an earned run average of 2.72. A NEAC Pitcher of the Week honoree, Olsen also went the distance in the circle on seven separate occasions and recorded a pair of shutouts, including a one-hit, complete-game shutout during a road win over Wilson College. Olsen also made a mark at the plate, batting .325 with 20 RBIs and 21 runs scored en route to helping the two-time defending-champion Nittany Lions clinch the top divisional seed in the NEAC Tournament while also landing on the NEAC South All-Conference First Team.
The NEAC South Rookie of the Year honor went to Lancaster Bible College freshman Julia D’Arrigo (Fawn Grove, Pa.) after an excellent debut season for the Chargers. D’Arrigo broke out on the scene with a rookie-most 47 hits while batting .386 on the season to go along with a .415 on-base percentage and a .579 slugging percentage. She also tallied four home runs, 10 doubles, 27 runs and 66 total bases, which were all top-10 marks in the conference, while striking out just twice in 123 plate appearances. Her play helped the Chargers finish 10-10 in divisional play and also earned her a spot on the NEAC South All-Conference First Team.
Wilson College’s Brett Cline garnered NEAC South Coach of the Year accolades after another standout season at the controls for the Phoenix. Cline led the Phoenix to a 19-10 overall record, including going 15-5 to share of the regular season divisional crown and earn the second seed in the NEAC Tournament. His squad leads the conference in on-base percentage (.403), which helped also lead all NEAC teams in stolen bases with 55. His pitching staff also combined to lead the conference in shutouts with six.
