LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its 2023 Men’s Soccer All-Conference Teams for the Volt Division. The All-Conference Teams are made up of 12 student-athletes, each with three forwards, three midfielders, three defenders, one goalkeeper, and two at-large honorees. Four major awards have been handed out including Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Coach of the Year.
Penn State Abington swept the major awards and led the way with 7 members of the All-Conference team, followed by Penn State Harrisburg and St. Mary’s College of Maryland with 6 representatives each, respectively.

Player of the Year - Eljo Agolli (Penn State Abington)
Defensive Player of the Year - Matt Sheldon (Penn State Abington)
Rookie of the Year - Hugh Nungessor (Penn State Abington)
Coach of the Year - Pat Morris (Penn State Abington)
Penn State Abington’s Eljo Agolli (Jr / Philadelphia, Pa.) was named the 2023 United East Player of the Year - Volt Division after the junior led the Nittany Lions to an unbeaten conference season and a Volt Division regular season championship. During the campaign, Agolli netted a career-high 11 goals, passed out 5 assists, and tallied 27 total points. Agolli’s Total Points and Total Goals each ranked third in the United East. Agolli was named the United East Offensive Player of the Week three times during the season.
Matt Sheldon (Sr. / Perkasie, Pa.) from Penn State Abington is the 2023 United East Defensive Player of the Year - Volt Division after the Nittany Lions completed an unbeaten conference season and a Volt Division regular season championship. Sheldon’s command in net of the defensive unit that only allowed 1.11 Goals per Game was good for 114th in NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer out of the 411 teams competing this season. The Nittany Lions only allowed 3 goals during the conference regular season with Sheldon holding an 0.803 Save Percentage and 4 shutouts. Sheldon was also named United East Defensive Player of the Week four times this season.
Hugh Nungessor (FY / Port Richmond, Pa.) was voted as United East Rookie of the Year - Volt Division after a strong debut season, tallying 7 goals and 2 assists for 16 points as the Nittany Lions wrapped up an unbeaten conference season and Volt Division regular season championship. Nungessor’s 7 goals had him finish 10th and the 16 points also tied for 10th in the United East standings on the season. Nungessor played in all 18 games, starting 11 of them, and was named United East Offensive Player of the Week on October 2 after scoring three goals on the week; including a brace against Neumann.
Pat Morris was selected Coach of the Year - Volt Division after guiding the Penn State Abington team to a regular season title, a 5-0-1 Volt Division record, and a 9-5-4 overall record. Abington outscored their conference opponents 30-3 on the season and, across the whole season, the Nittany Lions impressive defense held their opponents to a 1.11 Goals Against Average.
