MORRISTOWN, N.J. - Saint Elizabeth University Director of Athletics, Jennifer Virgil, announced Blake Saperstein as the Head Softball Coach. A clear fit for the department, Saperstein brings a refreshing positive energy and coaching philosophy to the program that will undoubtedly invigorate a team that is fresh off of a conference championship by not only elevating the players on the field, but also nurturing and mentoring them in a constructive holistic way off of it as well.
Prior to arriving at St. Elizabeth, Saperstein was the assistant coach at Bloomfield College from 2020 to 2023. In her first season there, she helped lead the team to their first CACC Division II Conference Championship game, the first time Bloomfield College had made a trip to the finals since 2012.
Saperstein's passion for mental performance led her to apply the Sports Psychology Degree she earned at Montclair State University and launch a Mental Performance program for the softball team at Bloomfield College. This program helped her players navigate and cope with the demands of being a student-athlete, and she is excited to bring her experience in this area to her players at SEU. "I'm about creating a culture that puts these outstanding student athletes in the best position to thrive not just on the field, but also in the classroom and within their social lives."
Outside of her important mental performance work with the softball team, Saperstein played an invaluable role at Bloomfield in daily practices, recruiting, fundraising, and player development.
In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Saperstein has also been one of the head coaches for the New Jersey Fight Softball Organization, one of the top travel softball organizations in the area, for the past six years.
Saperstein had her own impressive collegiate career as a student-athlete as a four-year starter on the Montclair State University Softball Team. In 2019, she was named 1st Team NFCA Division III East All-Region, First Team All-NJAC, before her playing career was cut short in 2020 by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Saperstein graduated from Montclair State University with a degree in Psychology, with a concentration in Sports Psychology.
