Chargers Make History with Trip to NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Lancaster Bible College men’s volleyball team made history Monday morning as the Charger name was called during the 2024 NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship Selection Show. This marks the first time the United East has had a program compete in the National Men’s Volleyball Tournament.

Lancaster Bible will be heading to Boston, Mass. as they will take on host Wentworth Institute of Technology in the opening round of the Tournament. This match will take place on Friday with the time of the first serve still to be determined. Joining them in the pod are Vassar College and Nichols College.

It was another stellar year as the Chargers earned both the title of Regular Season Champions and Conference Champions for the second-straight season (first under the United East banner). The squad (15-13) sends out a well-balanced floor, which includes Dawson Forney and Jacob Yoder, whose kills-per-set rank second and third in the conference.

Feeding those two has been Christian Herr, whose setting prowess helped earn him MVP status at the United East Championship. Herr’s 8.88 assists per set sets the bar in the conference.

On the backend, Ben Latham holds down the defense from the Libero position. The Sophomore has been all over the floor this season as his 3.00 digs per set not only top the conference but rank 15th among all players in Division III.

Wentworth (30-1) comes in hot as the squad has not dropped a set since April 3. Over that span, the Leopards earned an AQ for the NCAA Tournament as they were crowned Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Champions with a straight-set victory over Rivier College.
