Nine Collect NFCA Honors; Lorson Tabbed National Rookie of the Year Finalist

LATHAM, N.Y. – A total of nine United East softball student-athletes were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region teams, announced by the organization on Friday, May 17.

NFCA All-Region and All-American athletes must be nominated by their NFCA-member head coach, are voted for by the coaches in their region or division and selected by elected All-American committee members to receive this accolade.

Penn College’s Margaret Mangene and Madison Herriman and Lancaster Bible’s Noelle Martin received Region IV Second Team Honors. Region IV Third Team selections included Penn State Harrisburg’s Mackenzie Sawdey, Sierra Sims and Madelyn Lehigh. Lancaster Bible seen Third Team representation by Phoebe Clemens. Gallaudet’s Lacey Drolsbaugh and Penn College’s Grace Lorson rounded out selections for Third Team honorees.

All honorees will be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced May 29 online and on-site at the NCAA Division III Finals banquet.
 
Additionally, Penn College’s Grace Lorson was named One of Ten finalists selected by the Association’s Division III All-America Committee for the 2024 Tucci/NFCA Division III Freshman of the Year award. Lorson helped lead the Wildcats to a United East Championship and a NCAA Tournament berth.  The winner of the 2024 Tucci/NFCA Division III Freshman of the Year award will be announced on May 28.
