United East Players of the Week - October 13, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East has announced its Players of the Week for the week ending on October 13, 2025. Eight players across five member institutions have been recognized for their accomplishments in the sports of men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and field hockey.

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Kylie Yap / JR  / Penn State Harrisburg / Voorhees, N.J. / Eastern Regional

    Kylie Yap anchored a defensive unit that recorded a pair of shutouts during a 2-0 week in conference play for Penn State Harrisburg. In a 1-0 road win at Penn College on Tuesday night, the junior helped limit the Wildcats to just one shot on goal and two attempts total. She followed it up by limiting Penn State Berks to just two shots on target and three overall in another 1-0 victory on Saturday night. Thanks to Yap's efforts on the back line, goalkeeper Alexis Valenta was asked to make just three saves in earning the pair of wins. 

    This is the first weekly award of the year for Yap and her second overall (9/16/24)

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Kaitlyn Frank / SO / Penn State Abington / Southampton, Pa. / William Tennent

    In a 2-0-0 week for the Nittany Lions, sophomore Kaitlyn Frank recorded four goals and three assists for 11 points.  In a 2-0 victory at Cedar Crest, Frank scored an insurance goal late in the second half.  She capped the week with her first career hat-trick scoring three goals in the victory against the University of Valley Forge.  Frank also recorded three assists tying the program's single game record.  Her three goals scored increased her season total to eight which is a new career-high. 

    This is the first weekly award of Frank's career.

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Nicole Hicks / SR / Gallaudet University / Corona Calif. / Notre Dame

    Gallaudet University senior libero Nicole Hicks totaled 43 digs, seven assists and six aces in a perfect 3-0 week for the Bison in nine sets played. Hicks posted her second highest dig total of the season with 28 in a conference home match against Penn State Harrisburg this past Saturday that the Bison won, 3-1. In the win, Hicks passed out four assists and served up one ace. She followed that up with a 16-dig performance in a 3-0 sweep over Albright College. The senior added three aces and two assists in the quick sweep of the Lions. Earlier in the week, Hicks made nine digs, two aces and one assist in two sets played against Rosemont. For the season, Hicks has 304 digs and 34 service aces.

    This is the first weekly award in Hicks' career.

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Ella Gamble / SR / Gallaudet University / Cullowhee, N.C. / Smoky Mountain

    Gallaudet University senior setter Ella Gamble served her way into the NCAA Division III record book last Wednesday evening against Rosemont as she served 25 consecutive points in the first set to become the fourth NCAA Division III women's volleyball player to do so since the 25-point scoring format change took place in 2008. It was Gamble that served out the final five points for Gallaudet the previous Saturday at Keystone College to give her 30 consecutive points, which is a new confirmed NCAA Division III record for consecutive points served. Gamble broke her career-high for service aces in a match (11) with 12 aces in the first set against the Ravens and finished with a new personal record of 13 aces in a match. In addition to the service aces she added 33 assists in the 3-0 win over the Ravens. This past Saturday in a close four-set match at home against Penn State Harrisburg, Gamble passed out 43 assists, made 11 digs, three aces and three blocks in a 3-1 win over the Lions. She completed the tri-match with 40 assists, three aces and a block against Albright in a 3-0 win. In three matches for the week she totaled 116 assists, 19 aces, 15 digs, six kills and four blocks.

    This marks the third weekly United East award of the season Gamble and her ninth in her career (10/6/25, 9/8/25, 9/16/24, 11/6/23, 10/30/23, 10/16/23, 10/9/23, 9/18/23)

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Mohamed Konneh / SO / Penn State Abington

    In a 3-0-0 week for the Nittany Lions, sophomore Mohamed Konneh scored his first five goals of his career to help lead Abington to a perfect week against conference opponents.  Konneh registered his first two career goals in the team's victory at Gallaudet University to start the week.  Later in the week, Konneh scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory against Penn College.  He capped the week with his second multi-goal performance as he tallied two scores in the 5-1 triumph over Penn State Berks.

    This marks the first weekly United East award of Konneh's career.

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Frank Monaco / SO / Penn State Abington / Philadelphia, Pa. / Archbishop Ryan

    In a 3-0-0 week for the Nittany Lions, sophomore Frank Monaco was a key component in the team's defensive success holding opponents to just one goal in three games.  In a shutout victory at Gallaudet University, Abington held the Bison to just two shots and then held Penn College to only five shots in another shutout triumph.  Monaco also had an assist in the team's 5-1 victory against Penn State Berks to cap the week. 

    This marks the second weekly United East award in Monaco's career (9/15/25)

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Jena Vanskiver / SR / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Fallston, Md. / Fallston

    Jena Vanskiver racked up two goals and an assist in a 2-0 week for the Seahawks. Vanskiver began with a career-best two goals in a 6-0 road win at Immaculata while helping to limit the Mighty Macs to two shots (both on goal) and no penalty corners, contributing to the team's fifth shutout. She then assisted on the team's second goal in a 4-0 win at Lancaster Bible while holding the Chargers to one shot and one penalty corner for SMCM's sixth shutout.

    This marks the first weekly accolade of the season for Vanskiver and her second career honor (10/21/24)
     

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Brenna Ziegler / SR / St. Mary's College of Maryland / Newark, Del. / Newark Charter School

    Brenna Ziegler had a three-goal week as the Seahawks posted a 2-0 week. Ziegler notched the game-winning goal in a 6-0 win at Immaculata before scoring twice in a 4-0 road victory over Lancaster Bible.

    This is the third weekly award of the Ziegler's career (9/9/25, 10/28/24)
