LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East has announced its 2025 Men’s Volleyball All-Conference Teams and Major Award winners.
The three All-Conference teams are made up of five attackers, one setter, one libero and two at-large bids. An Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year has also been awarded.
Major Award Winners
Offensive Player of the Year - Sam Poirier (Cairn University)
Defensive Player of the Year - Christian DeMarco (Neumann University)
Rookie of the Year - Jackson Wolfe (Wilson College)
Coach of the Year - Aaron Hoke (Wilson College)
Poirier was an offensive juggernaut for the Highlanders this season, leading both his team and the conference in numerous statistical categories. The outside piled up 4.63 kills per set which not only topped the United East but ranked second in all of Division III. His 296 kills this year is over 50 more kills than any other player in the conference. The sophomore has been efficient as well, hitting at a clip of .271 which ranks fourth in the league. All of that play has led to Poirier averaging 4.93 points per set which ranks seventh in the country. The Nogyang, South Korea native had possibly his top outing in a crucial win over Saint Elizabeth as he racked up 40 kills which is the most kills in a single match this season by any player in any NCAA division. His talent has not gone unnoticed this season as he has earned United East Player of the Week three times.
DeMarco made his mark on the new conference early as his back row presence helped earn the Knights a four seed in the United East Championship. Donning the libero jersey, DeMarco finished his season averaging 3.68 digs per set which leads all of Division III. In total, the Woolwich, N.J. native accrued 265 dug balls, ranking him third in the conference. This season, DeMarco has hit the double-digit dig mark 15 times while racking up 20+ digs in three matches. One of his top performances came in a four-set win over Gallaudet in which he was able to pile up 22 digs.
Wolfe was a standout during the Phoenix historic men’s volleyball season, doing a little of everything for the squad. Wolfe registered 237 kills this season and hit at a clip of .206, both of which topping his program and ranking in the top-10 in the conference. Offensively, he’d also add 18 aces. Wolfe’s defense was just as good though as he cranked out 69 blocks including 11 of the solo variety. Away from the net, the rookie piled up 148 digs as well. Perhaps his top outing came in a win over Hilbert College as he recorded a career-best 21 kills without committing a single hitting error. This season, Wolfe has been tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week three times and the Offensive Player of Week once.
Hoke guided his team to possibly its best season to date as the Phoenix posted a 14-win season, marking the first winning season in program history (14-13). His efforts also helped earn Wilson the No. 2 seed in the United East Championship and a home playoff win, both of which go in the Phoenix record books. Hoke helped teach his squad how to play elite defense at the net as his team averaged a league-leading 2.25 blocks per set in conference play. Offensively, the Phoenix were clutch as well as the team ranked second in conference-play hitting percentage (.237) and second in total service aces (56). Hoke also saw a record six players earn All-Conference accolades including Jacob McCoy and Wolfe who both earned a spot on the First Team.
