WASHINGTON D.C. - The 2025 United East Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships commenced today on the campus of Gallaudet University. With just six of the 20 scheduled events completed, Penn State Harrisburg currently holds the team lead. All teams will return to the track tomorrow for day two of the Championship.

The first official scoring came by way of the discus with Cedar Crest’s Bella Bozen topping the pack. The junior hurled her discus 35.40 meters, a full four meters further than any other competitor. Bozen wasn’t done there though as she also picked up gold in the javelin with a personal record throw of 33.51m.
Penn State Harrisburg notched its first gold of the meet in the pole vault as Katrin Cavanaugh recorded a leap of 3.36m.
The long jump featured a podium of three different schools as St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s Rocksann Smith garnered gold with a jump of 5.22m. Sydney Taylor from Carlow University and Jada Fields from Saint Elizabeth University took second and third place respectively.
Over at the track, Mackayla Reed earned another gold for Cedar Crest as her time of 14:56.06 in the 3000m steeple chase earned her first place. Teammate Giada Smith picked up a silver in the event with a time of 15:09.96.
In the 10K, it was the Seahawks’ Ella Mitchell who not only took gold, but also PR’d with a time of 42:57.26.
