United East Players of the Week - September 22, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East has announced its Players of the Week for the week ending on September 22, 2025. Eight players across seven member institutions have been recognized for their accomplishments in the sports of men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and field hockey.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Lea Sareyka / JR / Lancaster Bible College / Glen Mills, Pa. / The Christian Academy

    Sareyka was on fire offensively for the Chargers, helping her squad go 3-1 on the week. The junior tallied double-digit kills in all four matches, totaling 49 across 13 sets. Efficiency was also in the cards as she hit at a clip of .214 on the week. Possibly more impressive was her work from the service line where she racked up 17 aces including nine in the sweep of Hood. Additionally, Sareyka added 31 digs to round out the stat sheet.

    This is the first weekly award of Sareyka's career.

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Jada Zarembka / Junior / Gallaudet University / Riverside, Calif. / California School for the Deaf-Riverside

    Gallaudet junior middle hitter Jada Zarembka made a team-high 15 blocks last week as the Bison posted a 3-2 record as they hosted their annual Worthington Classic. Zarembka was a force at the net as she tallied three block solos and 12 block assists to go with 37 kills, 13 digs and eight aces. Zarembka also had a team best .342 hitting percentage. The Riverside, Calif., native recorded 10 of her 15 blocks last Saturday in two matches. Zarembka made six blocks in a 3-2 win over UC Santa Cruz and followed that with four blocks in a four-set win over Whittier College. 

    This marks the first weekly United East award of the season Zarembka and her second in her career (9/30/24)

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Riley Danko / JR / Lancaster Bible College / Newport, Pa. / Greenwood

    Danko was active in every goal the Chargers scored this week, helping her squad to a 1-1 record. The junior accounted for all of the scoring in the team's 3-2 win over Goucher as she notched her first-career hat trick. She followed that with a goal and an assist in a narrow defeat against Sweet Briar. Danko currently averages a goal a game, the second-most in the conference.

    This marks the first ever weekly United East award for Danko in her career.
     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Sophia Kent / So / St. Mary's College (Md.) / Chesterville, MD / The Gunston School

    Sophia Kent tallied 21 saves, an .875 save percentage, and a 1.50 GAA in a 1-1 week for the Seahawks. Kent started the week with seven saves for her second shutout of the season before racking up 14 stops in a 3-0 loss to No. 14 York (Pa.).

    This marks the third-straight weekly United East award of the season for Kent and the third of her career (9/9/25, 10/14/25, 9/15/25).

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Jasmin Alvarez / FR / Penn State Brandywine / Tracy Calif. / Tracy

    Jasmin Alvarez upped her shutout total to three on the season with two clean sheets last week. She stopped all four shots she faced in a 3-0 road win at Brooklyn College on Wednesday. Alvarez then needed to save six shots to preserve a scoreless draw against John Jay on Saturday, extending Brandywine's unbeaten streak to four-straight matches.

    This is the second weekly award of the Alvarez's career and second in as many weeks.

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Ella Garman / FR / Penn College / Boiling Springs, Pa. / Boiling Springs

    Garman led the Wildcats offense to a pair of home victories over Penn State Altoona and La Roche last week. The freshman forward accounted for six points on three goals as she has stepped up with the absence of returning conference Player of the Year, Megan Kurian. Garman started her week off with two goals in a 3-0 victory against Altoona and scored the fourth goal against La Roche in just the first minute of the second half. On the week, Garman fired off 11 shots with six on frame. 

    This is the first weekly award of the Garman's career.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Alijah Miller / JR / Cairn University / Monroe, N.C. / Homeschool

    Miller score three goals over two games this week, netting two on Wednesday in a 3-0 win at Centenary and one more with less than two minutes to go on Saturday at FDU Florham. Miller is tied for the lead in goals this season in the United East with four, averaging .571 goals per game.

    This marks the first weekly United East award of the season for Miller.

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Kolten McVean / FR / Keystone College / Dickinson, Texas / Dickinson

    McVean played all 180 minutes between the pipes in a 1-1-0 week for the Giants. The Keystone netminder registered 10 saves in the week-opening, 3-1 victory over Washington Adventist. He'd then add a nine save performance in a narrow, 2-1, defeat via SUNY Cobleskill.  McVean currently has 44 saves which ranks fourth in the conference

    This marks the first ever weekly United East award for McVean.
