United East Players of the Week - September 29, 2025

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East has announced its Players of the Week for the week ending on September 29, 2025. Eight players across four member institutions have been recognized for their accomplishments in the sports of men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and field hockey.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Brielle Worley / JR / Gallaudet University / Amarillo, Texas. / Amarillo

    Gallaudet junior outside hitter Brielle Worley couldn't miss last week as she recorded 37 kills on 61 swings and only two errors for a stellar .573 hitting percentage. Worley added 25 digs, nine service aces and two blocks as GU went 3-0 for the week and picked up its first conference win. She had a double-double vs. Hollins with 11 kills and 11 digs.

    This is the second weekly award of the season for Worley and her eighth overall (9/1/25, 10/28/24, 10/21/24, 10/14/24, 9/30/24, 9/16/24, 9/9/24)

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Fabiola Medina / SO / Penn State Abington / Caguas, Puerto Rico / Academia del Perpetuo Socorro

    In a 3-0 week for the Nittany Lions, sophomore Fabiola Medina averaged 5.3 digs per set and totaled four aces.  She recorded a season-high 20 digs in the three aces in the team's 3-0 victory over Keystone College in the conference opener.  Medina followed that up with 15 digs in the four-set win against Delaware Valley.  Earlier in the week she totaled 18 digs in a 3-0 victory against Wilkes University.  

    This marks the first weekly United East award of the season Medina and her second in her career (10/7/24)

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Kate Seymour / JR / Wilson College / Churchton, Md. / Southern

    Seymour had a week she won't soon forget as she helped lead the Phoenix to a pair of wins where she scored five goals and an assist. The first one came against Eastern Mennonite as Wilson exploded for five goals in the second half to go on to win. A similar situation followed on Saturday as the Phoenix traveled to Keuka. This time after a scoreless first half, Seymour scored the haul with four goals in the third quarter alone. However, she wasn't done and assisted on Mia Brunet's goal in the fourth for another 5-0 victory. The four goals against the Wolves are tied for the fourth-most in a single game in Division III this season.

    This marks the first weekly United East award for Seymour of the season and her third overall (10/7/24, 9/19/23)
     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Jade Syto / JR / Wilson College / Newark, Del. / Christiana

    Syto anchored a defense that kept both teams the Phoenix competed against off the board, helping improve Wilson to a record of 3-5 on the year. The Newawk, Del. native helped keep Eastern Mennonite to just two total shots (neither on goal) before besting that against Keuka as they kept the Wolves to just a single shot. All three Phoenix wins this season have come with a shutout attached.

    This is the first ever weekly award of Syto's career.

  • Defensive Player of the Week

    Haley Moyer / JR / Lancaster Bible College / Collegeville, Pa. / Perkiomen Valley

    Moyer was a pivotal player on the defensive end, helping the Chargers secure two shutout wins including a conference victory. In the week's first contest, Moyer helped the Charger defense allow just five total shots as the team defeated Goucher 4-0. They backed that up with a 5-0 shutout over Wilson, holding the Phoenix shotless across all 90 minutes.

    This is the second weekly award of the Alvarez's career and second in as many weeks.

    Offensive Player of the Week

    Janae Bergey / SR / Lancaster Bible College / Milton, Pa. / Milton Area

    Bergey has been unstoppable on the offensive end, helping Lancaster Bible pick up a win in both matches over the week. The senior piled up three goals in the 4-0 victory over Goucher on Thursday before turning in another hat trick in a 5-0 win over conference-foe Wilson on Saturday. The performances mark three-straight contests with three goals for Bergey and put her at a league-leading 11 on the season.

    This is the first weekly award of the season for Bergey and her second in her career (9/18/23

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Matteo Giansanti / SR / Gallaudet University / Rome, Italy / Model Secondary School for the Deaf

    Gallaudet senior midfielder Matteo Giansanti scored one goal and tallied one assist as the Bison won their conference opener, 2-1, on the road at Penn St.-Brandywine. Giansanti got the scoring started with an unassisted goal in the ninth minute as GU led 1-0 and took that one-goal advantage into halftime. In the second half, Giansanti's corner kick found the head of first-year forward Xavier De Leon's head for the second Bison goal in the 74th minute. 

    This marks the first weekly United East award of the Giansanti's career.

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Brendan Werner / SR / Penn State Abington / Philadelphia, Pa. / Philadelphia Academy Charter

    In a 2-0-0 week for the Nittany Lions, senior Brendan Werner recorded a pair of shutouts in net against New Jersey City University and Notre Dame of Maryland University.  Werner made six stops in the 4-0 victory against New Jersey City, while the Abington defense held Notre Dame to just three shots (none on-goal) in another 4-0 triumph.  The two shutouts give Werner three on the year and increase his career total to 15. 

    This marks the first weekly United East award of the season for Werner and his second of his career (9/9/24)
