United East Players of the Week - October 6, 2026

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for October 6, 2026.  Today will include Athletes of the Week for Men’s Cross Country, Women’s Cross Country, Men’s Golf, Men’s Tennis and Women’s Tennis

A total of five student-athletes from five different member institutions were recognized for their performances.

Men’s Cross Country
Runner of the Week
Sevan Ikeda / SO / Gallaudet University / Fremont, Calif. / California School for the Deaf-Fremont

Sevan Ikeda turned in a career-best performance for Gallaudet University at the Don Cathcart Invitational, placing seventh overall among 73 runners. Racing through rainy and muddy conditions, the sophomore completed the 8K course in a personal-best time of 25:06, the third-fastest 8K performance in Gallaudet men’s cross country history. The defending United East champion also finished as one of the top NCAA Division III runners in the field. This was Ikeda’s third Player of the Week honor this fall. 
 
Women’s Cross Country
Runner of the Week
Ryley Schwalm / GS / Cedar Crest College / Pottsville, Pa. / North Schuylkill

Ryley Schwalm earns United East Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honors for the second time this fall after another record-setting performance for Cedar Crest College. Schwalm placed 30th overall in a field of 408 runners at the Paul Short Run, completing the 6K course in 22:25.5. Her performance once again established a new program record for the fastest 6K time in Cedar Crest history.

Men’s Golf 
Golfer of the Week
Clark Brubacher / SO / Lancaster Bible College / Narvon, Pa. / Conestoga Christian

Clark Brubacher turned in a runner-up finish for Lancaster Bible College at the Golden Oaks Shootout, firing a one-under 71 to place second overall. Brubacher carded three birdies during the round and added an eagle on the 11th hole to finish under par for the day. His performance helped lead the Chargers to a fourth-place team finish in the eight-team field.

Men’s Tennis
Player of the Week
Talan Nguyen / JR / Penn State Berks / Pottstown, Pa. / Owen J. Roberts

Talan Nguyen went a perfect 4-0 across singles and doubles play during a 1-1 week for Penn State Berks. Nguyen teamed with Joseph Martin for a 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles before earning a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles in the Nittany Lions’ victory over Penn State Brandywine. He followed with another win alongside Martin at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, against Alvernia before completing his undefeated week with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles.

Women’s Tennis 
Player of the Week
Jana Zollner / JR / Penn State Abington / Westhampton, N.J. / Homeschooled

Jana Zollner went undefeated to help lead Penn State Abington to a 7-0 victory at Arcadia, marking the Nittany Lions’ first win over the Knights since 2015. The junior teamed with Lilly Downey for a 7-5 victory at No. 1 doubles before cruising to a straight-set win in singles play, taking both sets by identical 6-1 scores.
