Seahawks & Wildcats Advance to Men's Lacrosse Championship Game

LATHAM, N.Y. - For the third consecutive season, St. Mary's College of Maryland and Penn College will meet in the United East Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship Game on Saturday afternoon. The Top-seeded Seahawks defeated #4 Cairn University, 27-1, on Wednesday while the second-seeded Wildcats dispatched #3 University of Pitt-Bradford, 29-6.

The four-time defending conference champions immediately grabbed contol of their semifinal matchup with Cairn University striking three times in the openning two minutes of the game. St. Mary's (Md.) would have five different players combine to score 13 first quarter goals including Joshua Martel who scored six times. The Seahawks built a 20-1 lead at the half and cruised to the decisive 27-1 victory. 

Martel led the St. Mary offense, scoring six times on eight shots and adding an assist. Jack Reiter posted a team-high six assists to go along with two goals. Matteo Ciccarello went 22-28 on faceoffs, collecting a game-high 18 ground balls in the win. 

#2 Penn College def. #3 Univ. of Pitt-Bradford, 29-6 - Box Score
Penn College reached its third straight championship final with its second straight victory over the Panthers. The Wildcats started off hot with a 13-0 run through the first 15 minutes of action before the Panthers got on the board early in the second.

PCT took a 19-2 lead at the break and led 24-6 after three periods. The Wildcats tacked on five more goals in the final quarter for the final tally of 25-6. 

Chase Kaplan, Gavin Selchert and Owen Kupsey netted hat-tricks for the Wildcats. Kaplan led the attack with four assists and seven points. Antonio Santora won 11-of-16 faceoffs and Brody Borkowski went 10-for-13 on restarts.
