LATHAM, N.Y. – The United East Conference is pleased to announce Seth Goodyear has been named the Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Communications.
Prior to arriving at the United East, Goodyear served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information and Compliance at Penn State Berks. Goodyear provided leadership and oversight for departmental operations, communications, compliance, and sport administration for 12 NCAA Division III programs. He served as the sport administrator for women's volleyball, men's basketball, and softball while overseeing NCAA compliance education and reporting, game operations, live streaming, media coverage, and event management. Additionally, he coordinated technology and vendor partnerships, supervised student staff, and worked closely with campus administrators to support the success of the department's student-athletes and programs.
United East Commissioner Stephanie Dutton expressed her excitement about welcoming Goodyear to the conference office.
“I am thrilled to announce Seth Goodyear as our newest addition to the United East staff,” said Dutton. “Seth brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our conference office and our communications efforts, which will undoubtedly help us continue to elevate the profile of the United East. His familiarity with our conference mission and member institutions, as well as a deep commitment to Division III values, made him an exceptional fit to join our team.”
Before his time at Berks, Goodyear served as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Athletic Communications at Notre Dame of Maryland University from November 2022 to October 2024. Goodyear oversaw 13 athletic teams at NDMU and served as an assistant softball coach. Goodyear has had experience at several schools in the United East Conference, working as the Athletic Communications Director at Lancaster Bible College from August 2021 to June 2022. Prior to his time at Lancaster Bible, Goodyear worked as the Sports Information Director at Franciscan University and the Assistant Sports Information Director at Penn State Harrisburg.
“I am honored and excited to serve as the United East Conference's Assistant Commissioner of Strategic Communications,” said Goodyear. “Having spent many years working at United East member institutions, I have had the privilege of experiencing firsthand the conference’s commitment to providing an outstanding student-athlete experience and fostering excellence both in competition and in the classroom. Those experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the people, values, and relationships that make the United East such a special conference.”
In his role as Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Communications, Goodyear will oversee the conference's strategic communications efforts, including media relations, social media management, website content, statistical reporting, and championship communications. He will work closely with athletic communications professionals across the conference's member institutions to promote the achievements of United East student-athletes, coaches, and programs while enhancing the conference's visibility through storytelling, digital content creation, and championship coverage. Additionally, Goodyear will assist with conference awards programs, historical record keeping, and the coordination of communications initiatives that support the United East's mission and continued growth.
“I look forward to helping tell the stories of our exceptional student-athletes, coaches, and institutions while supporting the continued growth and visibility of the conference,” said Goodyear. “Athletic communications plays a vital role in celebrating achievements, preserving memorable moments, and showcasing the impact collegiate athletics has on our campuses and communities. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the conference in this new role and eager to work alongside our member institutions to continue advancing the United East’s mission and reputation.”
Goodyear earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Penn State Harrisburg in 2012. He resides in Middletown, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Keri, and their two dogs.
