2001 Men's Soccer Pre-Season Coaches' Poll
PAC Coaches Pick Misericordia in Men's Soccer
Aston, PA - Defending champion College Misericordia is picked to repeat as Pennsylvania Athletic Conference men's soccer champion, according to the PAC preseason coaches poll. The Cougars earned four first place votes and three seconds for 59 points.
"It's an honor for our program to be picked to win the PAC," said Misericordia head coach Chuck Edkins. "Our goal is to defend our title, but we have to replace some key players and the league continues to get tougher each season."
Arcadia, the PAC runner-up last season, is second with 55 points, including three first place votes. Eastern and Cabrini, both semifinalists last season, are picked third and fourth, respectively. Eastern is third with 51 points, while Cabrini received two first place votes to finish fourth with 49 points. Wesley rounds out the top five with 34 points.

PAC Champion Arcadia Earns Five All-Conference Selections
Tom DeGeorge Named Player of The Year
Aston, PA – The Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) released its All-PAC Men's Soccer Team on Monday with conference champion Arcadia University (formerly Beaver College) earning five first-team selections. Arcadia junior Tom DeGeorge (Philadelphia, PA/Manor JC) was honored as Player of the Year.
As a starting midfielder for the Scarlet Knights, DeGeorge finished the regular season with a PAC-best 58 points on 22 goals and 14 assists. Joining DeGeorge on the first team was a pair of junior forwards, PAC Tournament MVP Ben Swan (Kailua Kona, HI/Konawaena) and Rob White (Philadelphia, PA/Manor JC), both top-four scorers in the PAC, junior back Matt Wardlow (Montvale, NJ/Don Bosco) and senior goalkeeper John Conley (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan). Arcadia head coach Tom Carlin, in just his second season, was named coach of the year. At 19-0-1, the Knights are currently ranked 20th in the nation by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and remain the only undefeated team in the top 25.
Eastern University placed three players on the first team including PAC Rookie of the Year Derek Hammacher (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliffe). College Misericordia, the PAC runner up, earned two first-team selections.

Arcadia University won its first PAC title under its new name as the Knights defeated College Misericordia, 3-2 in Glenside, PA to earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
The Knights jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half, on goals by Tournament MVP Ben Swan (Jr, F, Kailua Kona, HI), Tom De George (Jr, M, Philadelphia, PA) and Chris Ferrari (Jr, F, Philadelphia, PA).
In the second half, Misercordia struck for two late goals by Frank Carrozza (Jr, F, Montgomery, NY) and Len Bartone (Sr, M, Birdsboro, PA) to pull within a goal in the final five minutes.
The Knights held on after a few anxious moments in the final moments. Arcadia keeper John Conley (Sr, G, Philadelphia, PA) had eight saves for the contest.
