    2007 Men's Soccer Pre-Season Coaches' Poll

    Eastern University Selected Favorite in Men's Soccer


    Aston, PA - Eastern University's men's soccer team has been selected as the pre-season favorite in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) coaches’ poll. The Eagles received 78 total points, including six of nine first-place votes.

    “We are honored to be selected as the preseason conference favorite,” Eastern head coach Mark Wagner said.  “We know the competition will be intense with a lot of talented teams to contend with.”

    Alvernia College, which lost in last year’s PAC Championship game, earned 71 points in the poll.  The Crusaders received three first-place votes.  Misericordia University finished third in the poll with 58 points.

    Cabrini College (55), Gwynedd-Mercy College (41), Immaculata University (41), Centenary CollegeNeumann College (23) and Marywood University (10) rounded out the voting. (28),
    The 2007 PAC Championship will kick off with first round play on Tuesday, October 30th, with the PAC Championship Game slated for Saturday, November 3rd.

    Neumann College’s Zach Sell (Fr, M, Baltimore, MD/ Loyola Blakefield)was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending October 21st.  Sell
    scored a total of five goals, including a hat trick against Centenary College, for the Knights in a 1-1-1 (1-0-1 PAC) week.

    Cliff Gehret,Eastern University (Sr, M, Souderton, PA/ Souderton) scored two goals for the Eagles in a 2-0 PAC week.

    Tyler Mensch, Misericordia University (Jr, F, Muncy, PA/ Muncy) scored two goals and added an assist for the Cougars in a 1-0-1 PAC week.

    Immaculata University’s Gio DeMartini (Jr, F, Stockton, CA/ St. Mary’s)was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending October 7th.  DeMartini notched an assist andscored a total of four goals, including the overtime game-winner against Rowan University and a hat trick against Valley Forge Christian College, for the Mighty Macs in a 2-0-1 (0-0-1 PAC) week.

    Chris Hill,Centenary College (Jr, F, Flanders, NJ/ Gill St. Bernard’s) scored four goals, including a hat trick against Gwynedd-Mercy, for the Cyclones in a 1-1 PAC week.

    Matt Meier,Gwynedd-Mercy College (Fr, F, Philadelphia, PA/ Roman Catholic) registered a hat trick against Haverford College for the Griffins in a 1-1 (0-1 PAC) week.

    Eastern University’s Aaron Tritch (Sr, F, Watsontown, PA/ Meadowbrook Christian)was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Men’s Soccer Co-Player of the Week for the week ending September 23rd.  Tritch tallied three goals and one assist for the Eagles in a 2-0 PAC week. 

    Alvernia College’s Morgan Davidheiser (Fr, F, Boyertown, PA/ Boyertown)was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Men’s Soccer Co-Player of the Week for the week ending September 23rd. 
    Davidheiser scored three goals, including one game-winner, and added one assist for the Crusaders in a 1-1 (0-1PAC) week.

    Player of the Week
    Cabrini College’s Evan Hanauer (So, MF, Royersford, PA/ Spring-Ford)was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending September 16th.
    Hanauer tallied two goals and two assists for the Cavaliers in a 2-0 (1-0 PAC) week.  Hanauer had both a goal and an assist in games against Alvernia and Widener.

    Player of the Week
    Neumann College’s Jesse Urqhardt (Jr, F, Erial, NJ/ Timber Creek)was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending September 9th.
    Urqhardt tallied three goals and three assists for the undefeated (3-0) Knights.  Urqhardt had the game winning assist in the season opening 3-1 defeat of the University District of Columbia, scored both goals in a 2-1 win over McDaniel and led the Knights to a 3-2 comeback victory over King’s College with 2 assists.

    Honor Roll
    Dennis Halverson, Gwynedd-Mercy College (Sr, F, Philadelphia, PA/ North Catholic) scored three goals, including two game-winners for the Griffins.

    Dann DeLorenzo, Eastern University (Fr, F, Manalapan, NJ/ Manalapan) scored two game-winning goals and was named Offensive MVP to help the Eagles claim first place at the Cialella Classic tournament at Rutgers-Camden.
