#4 Wesley 2, #5 Cedar Crest 0
Dover, DE - Wesley College (12-8) shutout Cedar Crest College (10-8) 2-0 to take home a 1st round PAC Playoff victory. With the win, the #4 seeded Lady Wolverines advance to the semi-finals to face #1 Eastern College on Wednesday, November 6th at 2pm.
Wesley and Cedar Crest battled scoreless through the first half. Entering the second half, the Wolverines began dominating the offense with scoring chances on 3 corners within 5 minutes. Finally, sophomore midfielder Stefany Tiberi found senior captain Kim Robostello open on the right wing. Robostello pulled right, eluding Cedar Crest keeper April Barnes, and cranked the ball into the high left corner of the cage.
Fifteen minutes later Cedar Crest had a golden opportunity to tie the game. With the ball dangerously close to the goal line, Wesley’s defense scrambled to hold on to their lead. In doing so, the Wolverines covered the ball in the circle, resulting in a penalty stroke for the Falcons. Jessica White was on the line for Cedar Crest to attempt the stroke and even the score. White’s shot headed to the far left corner of the cage but goalie Laurie Catalino made a sprawling stick save to preserve Wesley’s lead.
