Aston., PA - The Cabrini Cavaliers have been selected as the preseason favorite in men's lacrosse to capture the 2011 Colonial States Athletic Conference championship.  Voted on by the coaches, Cabrini received all seven (7) first place votes earning them a perfect 49 points to put them a top the poll.

The Cavaliers have captured ten straight CSAC championships and have made nine straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament.  The team is ranked No. 14 in the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Preseason Poll. "It is always a great honor to be recognized by the other coaches in the league and we are eagerly awaiting the start of the 2011 campaign," said head coach Steve Colfer.

The Cavaliers will be led by three returning USILA All-Americans in honorable mention selections senior attackman Paul Skulski, senior defenseman Steve Heaps and junior defenseman John McSorley.  Skulski will be looked to guide the Cavaliers offense as he was second on the team last season with 58 points on 35 goals and 23 assists.  Heaps and McSorley will be key pieces to the Blue & White defense as they both started in all 19 games for Cabrini last season.  McSorley led Cabrini with 25 caused turnovers while Heaps ranked second on the team with 63 groundballs.

After falling 9-7 to Gwynedd-Mercy in the semifinals of the CSAC championships last season, Marywood University has been selected to finish second behind the Cavaliers.  The Pacers will look to rely on experience as the squad features fourteen seniors and seven players who earned All-Conference honors last season.  Leading Marywood will be senior goalkeeper and  first team honoree Jessie Habich.  Habich led the CSAC and ranked third in the nation with a .660 save percentage while his 6.65 goals-against average was good enough for 12th in the country.

After reaching the title game in the program's second season, the Gwynedd-Mercy men's lacrosse team received 36 votes to finish third in the poll.  Under the guidance of 2010 coach of the year Dana Lindstrom, the Griffins will look to get back to the championship bout behind sophomores Zach Richter a first team all conference selection, and second team all conference recipient, Mason Risner.

Immaculata finished fourth with 24 points, while Centenary (19), Neumann (17) and Shenandoah (10) rounded out the voting.
