2006 Golf Pre-Season Coaches' Poll

PAC Coaches Select Wesley as Pre-Season Favorite in Golf

Aston , PA – Wesley College’s golf team has been selected as the pre-season favorite in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) coaches’ poll. The seven-time defending champion Wolverines received eight of the nine first-place votes and a total of 80 points to finish ahead of Cabrini College.

Cabrini, the 2005 runner-up, earned the other first-place vote and a total of 70 points to finish in second place in the poll.
"We are thrilled to be chosen as the pre-season favorite in the PAC,” Wesley head coach Rick McCall said. “We are excited for our program and for the other teams in our league to bring regional and national honors to the PAC.”

Alvernia College (60), Neumann College (56), Misericordia University (47), Eastern University (36), Gwynedd-Mercy College (27), Arcadia University (18)and Immaculata University (11) rounded out the voting.

2006 Golf Player of the Week

Wesley College’s Tyler Smith (Jr, Dover, DE/Dover) was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Golfer of the Week for the week ending April 23. Smith took home medalist honors at the Wesley Spring Invitational, shooting a five-under 67 to lead the Wolverines. He finished in second place at the Scotty Duncan Memorial Tournament, firing a one-under 70.

Jeff Sadowski, Alvernia (Sr, Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) – Shot 78, 87 and 76 in his three rounds of the week.

April 17, 2006
Cabrini College’s Mike Dunphy (Fr, Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Golfer of the Week for the week ending April 16.  Dunphy shot a 74, an 80 and an 81 in his three rounds of the week.

Alvernia College’s Nayson Avery (Sr, Bernville, PA/Tulpehocken) was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Golfer of the Week for the week ending April 9.  Avery shot an even-par 72 to defeat 101 other golfers at the Lebanon Valley Spring Invitational.

April 3, 2006
Neumann College’s Joseph Coffey (So, West Grove, PA/St. Mark) was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Golfer of the Week for the week ending April 2. Coffey shot rounds of 82, 81 and 81 to lead the Knights to a pair of first-place finishes and a runner-up finish during the week.

March 27, 2006
Cabrini College’s Tim Harner (Fr, Tower City, PA/Williams Valley) was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Golfer of the Week for the week ending March 26. Harner shot a 73 to take medalist honors in his collegiate debut, leading the Cavaliers to a win over Holy Family College.
