2020 CSAC MEN'S VOLLEYBALL PRESEASON COACHES POLL
CAIRN THE TOP PICK IN MVB PRESEASON COACHES' POLL
ROSEMONT, Pa. – Cairn University was the top pick of the coaches in the 2020 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Men’s Volleyball Preseason Coaches’ poll which was released on Tuesday afternoon.
The 2020 season marks the first year that the CSAC will be sponsoring men’s volleyball as a conference sport.
The Highlanders received 14 points including two first-place votes. Wilson College was second with 12 points and two first-place votes.
The College of Saint Elizabeth was third with ten points, while Rosemont College was fourth with four points. This marks the first year that Rosemont is sponsoring men's volleyball as a varsity sport.
The season starts on Wednesday, January 15, as Cairn travels to Widener. The first CSAC match is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, as Cairn heads to Saint Elizabeth.
Each team will play a double round-robin schedule, with the CSAC hosting a championship tri-match on Saturday, April 18, at the number one seed. The number four-seed will take on the top-seed, followed by the third-seed taking on the second-seed, with the two winners meeting for the championship.

Collin Benjamin / Jr / Cairn University / Landhorne, Pa. / Bucks County Technical High Schoool (Offensive)
Benjamin dominated in the middle of the court in the Highlanders two wins this week. The junior picked up 17 kills against Neumann on an incredible 57.7 percent to lead the Highlanders to the win, and he also hit 45.5 percent against York in the Highlanders second win of the week.

Bassill contributed for the Highlanders in a variety of ways this week, chipping in with ten digs and seven blocks, while also directing the Highlanders offense and notching 90 assists across the Highlanders’ three matches.

Peters totaled 27 kills and hit 33.3 percent in a 3-1 week for the Eagles. He had ten kills in wins over Brooklyn and Wilson.
Daniel Chavez / So / Saint Elizabeth University / Bloomfield, N.J. / Bloomfield (Defensive)
Chavez recorded 32 total digs in a 3-1 week for the Eagles including sweeps over Brooklyn, Pratt and Wilson. He averaged 8.0 digs per match.

Crowe was 27-3-40 in two matches last week, and had a .867 hitting percentage (13-0-15) against Rosemont in a win over the Ravens.

Cassel had ten blocks on the week for Cairn, and 12 digs as the Highlanders picked up wins over Saint Elizabeth, Eastern and Wilson.

Firestone had 11 kills and two aces for the Phoenix in a win over Rosemont

2020 CSAC All-Conference Teams
CSAC ANNOUNCES MEN'S VOLLEYBALL END OF YEAR AWARDS
ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced its 2020 men’s volleyball end of season awards as voted upon by the league’s four head coaches. These awards include Player, Defensive and Rookie of the Year as well as Coach of the Year and the 3-D Award. This is the first year that the CSAC has sponsored men’s volleyball.
Cairn University junior outside hitter
Scott Bassill (Havertown, Pa.) was named as the Player of the Year. Bassill collected 390 assists this season in 18 matches, averaging 6.61 per set. He also had 29 blocks, and 16 service aces. He had a conference best 29 assists in a match against Lehman back on February 29.
Cairn University junior outside hitter
Sam Gabriels (Willow Grove, Pa.) was named as the Defensive Player of the Year. He led the CSAC in digs with 135, averaging 2.70 digs per set. He had a season best 22 digs in a match against Neumann back on February 5.
College of Saint Elizabeth freshman outside hitter
Kodi Peters (Bergenfield, N.J.) was named as the Rookie of the Year. Peters led the Eagles with 103 kills with 2.78 kills per set on a .328 hitting percentage. The 6-foot-1 freshman reached double digits in kills in six matches including a season-best 17 at King's (Pa.) on Jan. 18. Peters added 31 digs.
Cairn University head coach
Nate Seidle was named as the Coach of the Year. He led the Highlanders to an 8-10 record overall but a 4-1 record in the CSAC.
Cairn University also won the 3-D Award in men’s volleyball. Implemented for the 2011-12 academic year, the Colonial States Athletic Conference 3D Award replaced the CSAC Team Sportsmanship Award. The 3D Award recognizes the teams in each sport that best demonstrate the NCAA Division-III philosophy of "Discover, Develop, Dedicate." The 3D Award was conceived and developed by the CSAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
