2006 Women's Lacrosse Pre-Season Coaches' Poll

PAC Coaches Select Cabrini as Pre-Season Favorite in Women’s Lacrosse

Aston , PA – Cabrini College’s women’s lacrosse team has been selected as the pre-season favorite in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) coaches’ poll. The eight-time defending champion Lady Cavaliers received eight of the 11 first-place votes and a total of 118 points to finish ahead of Eastern University.

Eastern, the runner-up each of the past two seasons, earned two first-place votes and 105 points to finish in second place in the poll. Gwynedd-Mercy College earned the other first-place vote and came in third in the poll with 97 points.

"It is a tremendous honor to be picked to win the PAC,” Cabrini head coach Jackie Neary said. “It is a double-edged sword, since we know the other teams in the league will be motivated to play us as we strive towards our goal.”

Neumann College (87), Wesley College (78), Alvernia College (64), Rosemont College (50), Arcadia University (41), Cedar Crest College (40), Misericordia University (28) and Immaculata University (18) rounded out the voting.

2006 All-PAC Women's Lacrosse Team
Eastern Sweeps PAC Awards

Pennsylvania Athletic Conference champion Eastern University swept the individual awards and landed three players on the All-PAC first-team. Midfielder Kate Hoy was named PAC Player of the Year was joined on the first team by teammates Jessie Basch and Amy Norman. Basch was the PAC Rookie of the Year while Eagles' head coach Carolyn Urban was named PAC Coach of the Year.

2005-06 Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week

Rosemont College’s Heather Barrie (Jr, A, Narberth, PA/Harriton) was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending April 23. Barrie scored 18 goals and added two assists as the Ramblers won all three of their contests during the week. Barrie also picked up a total of 14 ground balls in the three victories.

McKenna Shafer, Alvernia (So, Delran, NJ/Cinnaminson) – 
Had 10 goals and two assists in a 2-0 week.
April Kaufman, Cabrini (Jr, A, Boothwyn, PA/Chichester) – Had seven goals and two assists in a 2-0 week.

Jessie Basch, Eastern – Had seven goals and eight assists in a 1-1 week, including a school record eight assists in win over Misericordia.

April 17, 2006
Cabrini College ’s Kerri Ricker (So, M, Ridley, PA/Ridley) 
was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending April 16.  Ricker scored three goals and added eight assists for the Lady Cavaliers, who split a pair of contests during the week.  She had a career-high eight assists in Cabrini’s 24-10 win over Alvernia College.

April 10, 2006
Eastern University ’s Jessie Basch (Fr, M) 
was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending April 9. Basch scored 11 goals and added two assists for the Lady Eagles, who won all three of their games during the week.  Basch also scooped up 17 ground balls and caused five turnovers during the week.

April 3, 2006
Cabrini College’s Katelyn Penrose (So, A, Springfield, PA/Springfield) 
was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending April 2. Penrose scored seven goals and added one assist for the Lady Cavaliers, who split a pair of contests on the week.

March 27, 2006
Eastern University’s Kate Hoy 
was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending March 26. Hoy scored 15 goals and added one assist for the Lady Eagles, who went 2-1 on the week.

March 20, 2006
Cabrini College’s Katelyn Penrose (So, A, Springfield, PA/Springfield) 
was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending March 19. Penrose scored 10 goals for the Lady Cavaliers, who won two of their three contests on the week.

Neumann College’s Caitlin O’Shea (So, G, Springfield, PA/Springfield)
 
was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending March 12. O’Shea stopped 29 shots in a 1-1 week for the Knights.
