PAC Semi-Final

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

Game 1: #1 Cabrini 24, # 4 Notre Dame 23 (OT)

Radnor, Pa. – In what can only be described as a nail-biter, #1 Cabrini College downed #4 College of Notre Dame in overtime, advancing to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) finals.

With 26 seconds remaining in regulation play, Notre Dame’s Annie Shippen scored to tie the game at 22. Both teams were unable to score in the final seconds, and the game was forced into overtime. Both teams scored once in the first three minute overtime period, but a well-placed shot by Cabrini’s Katelyn  Penrose in the final minute lifted the Cavaliers to a 24-23 win over the Gators.

Cabrini College will host #2 Eastern University on Saturday, May 3, 2008. This will be the seventh straight year the teams have faced off in the championship game.

Game 2: #2 Eastern 12, Gwynedd-Mercy 9

St. Davids, Pa. – The Eastern University Women’s Lacrosse team has experience in snatching victory from the jaws of defeat, and the semi-final game against #3 Gwynedd-Mercy College was no different.

With a three goal deficit at halftime, the #2 Eagles returned to the field with renewed determination, defeating the #3 Griffins 12-9 to advance to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Lacrosse finals. Strong performances by Gwynedd-Mercy’s Kristie Pollack and Kate Loftus gave the Griffin’s the three goal first half lead. But, second half goals by Eastern’s Erin Fries and Grace Griffith gave the Eagles a comfortable 12-9 lead with only minutes left to play.

Dubbed the Battle of Eagle Road, the championship game will be held at Cabrini College on Saturday, May 3, 2008. This will mark the seventh straight year the two teams have faced off in the championship game.
