October 28, 2000

Coaches Tab Cabrini to Regain PAC Crown

Reading, PA— Cabrini is a slight favorite to regain the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference championship over defending PAC champion, according to the 2000-2001 PAC pre-season coach’s poll.

Cabrini, who won the first six PAC titles but last won the league title three years ag, tied Alvernia with 74 of a possible 81 points. The Cavaliers earned the tiebreaker with five first place votes compared to four for the Crusaders.

"The PAC as a whole has been getting tougher every year and we feel very fortunate to be voted the pre-season favorite.," said Cabrini head coach John Dzik. "It should be a very competitive season. Our goal, as it is every year, is to win the conference championship."

Alvernia head coach Jack McCloskey anticipates a very competitive season. "We expect some tough competition as we prepare to defend our PAC championship," said McCloskey. "Several teams brought in outstanding recruiting classes to complement a strong contingent of returning players."
