2017 CSAC Preseason Coaches Poll
PSU-BEHREND SELECTED FIRST IN CSAC WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD POLL
ASTON, Pa. – Penn State-Behrend was the top pick of the coaches to finish first in the 2017 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) preseason coaches’ poll for women’s outdoor track and field.
The Lions, who won the first-ever CSAC championship last season, received 48 points and six first-place votes.
“We are honored by the vote of the coaches in the conference and look forward to the opportunity to defend both our women's and men's CSAC team championships from last season,“ said PSU-Behrend head coach Greg Cooper.
Behrend won the women’s title with 276.5 points, while Gwynedd Mercy University was second with 128 points.
The Griffins, which hosted last year’s inaugural championship, were second in the poll with 40 points and one first-place vote.
Marywood University was third with 36 points followed by Keystone College in fourth with 26 points. The Giants will host this year’s championship, set for Saturday-Sunday, May 6-7.
Immaculata University placed fifth with 23 points. Franciscan University, which along with PSU-Behrend is an associate member of the CSAC, was sixth with 12 points, while Neumann University was seventh with 11 points.

March 28, 2017
Paige Allen / Sr / Penn State Behrend / Butler, Pa. / Butler HS (Track)
At the California Early Bird meet, Allen placed second in the 100m (12.21), third in the 200m (25.76), part of third place and school record 4x100m relay (49.36), part of fifth place 4x400m relay (4:07.90) and placed 10th in long jump (4.83m).
Chayanne Fine / So / Gwynedd Mercy University / Hanover Township, Pa. / Hanover HS (Field)
Fine won the discus with a best throw of 35.35 meters, which was just 16 cm away from a program record and recorded a top mark of 10.97 meters in the shot.

Rachel Pell / Jr / Penn State Behrend / Elizabeth, Pa. / Elizabeth City HS (Track)
At the CMU quad meet, she was second in 100 hurdles, with a16.63. She won the 400m hurdles with a time 1:06.93 and then ran in back to back events (400 hurdles then 200m) to place 4th in 200m in 28.40, and ran a leg on winning 4x100m relay.

Fine threw a CSAC best (11.17m-36' 7.75") in the Shot Put at the Millersville Metrics. She also held the top spot in the CSAC in the Discus with a throw of (35.04m—114' 11") .

Pell won the 400m hurdles and broke a 9 year old school record by running a 1:04.49. That not only ranks her first in the CSAC, but also first in the NCAA Mid-East Region, four in the ECAC and 27th in the NCAA. Rachel also placed 8th in the 100m hurdles.
Haley Yenchik / So / Penn State Behrend / Cecil, Pa. / (Field)
Yenchik flew over 11 feet for the second time this outdoor season in the pole vault and also triple jumped 33' 4". She leads the CSAC in both events.

Chante Moore / So / Gwynedd Mercy University / Philadelphia, Pa / (Track)
Chante Moore was apart of four first place finishes at the Gwynedd Mercy Invitational as she won both the 200 meters (24.59) and 400 (55.66). In the 4x100 her team posted a time of 49.92 for an ECAC Qualifying mark. To top it off in the 4x400 she was apart of a finish time of 4:00.33

Fine threw a CSAC best mark of (36' 8.5",11.19m) in the shot put at the Gwynedd Mercy Invitational. In the hammer she threw a mark of (86' 6",26.36m), also a top mark in the CSAC.

Moore earned two first place finishes at the Widener Invitational. She ran a time of 12.32 in the 100 and 25.14 in the 200.
Myesha Sanders / FY / Penn State Behrend / / (Field)
Sanders won the shot put, discus and hammer throws and placed second in the javelin at Behrend's home meet. Her season best shot put mark of 9.96m, hammer throw of 30.08m, and javelin throw of 20.73m were highlights while she also threw 33.39m in the discus to win by over five meters.

Chante Moore / So / Gwynedd Mercy University / Philadelphia, Pa / (Track)
Chante Moore had an amazing day winning two events and setting two school records. She finished first in prelims of the 100 meters with a new season-best of 12.06s. She then bettered that mark in the finals, winning the event in new school record of 11.84s. This is currently the #5 in the country, #1 in the ECAC and #1 in the CSAC. She then stepped back on the track and picked up a win in the 200m with a new personal best and school record with a time of 24.03s. This ranks her #3 in the country and #1 in both ECAC and CSAC.
Chayanne Fine / So / Gwynedd Mercy University / Hanover Township, Pa. / Hanover HS (Field)
Fine set three different PR's in field events. She started with hammer, throwing 30.97m (101'7") to finish seventh overall. She then followed it up in shot put, throwing a new PR 11.58m (38') as she finished 2nd in the event and remains 1st in the CSAC. She ended her day with another PR in discus as she won the event with a throw of 36.78m (120'8"), keeping her #1 in the CSAC.

2017 CSAC Championship Results
KEYSTONE SET TO HOST CSAC TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
LA PLUME, Pa. – The 2017 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) track and field championships start on Saturday as Keystone College hosts the two-day event for the first time.
The track and field championship, now in its second-year, features seven schools: Gwynedd Mercy University, Immaculata University, host Keystone College, Marywood University, Neumann University and CSAC associate members Franciscan University of Ohio and Penn State Behrend.
Last year, Penn State Behrend captured both championships, and were picked in the preseason polls to repeat on both sides.
This year’s championship looks to be just as competitive as the inaugural one, as several champions from last year return.
Starting in the sprints, PSU-Behrend senior Paige Allen won both the 100 and 200 last year, but will be tested by Gwynedd Mercy senior Chante Moore and Neumann University senior Nafisa Saunders in both events.
For the men, PSU-Behrend senior Matthew Grafton holds the top time in the 100 dash at 11.03, but, will face a challenge from Gwynedd Mercy freshman Nick Shaffer who clocked an 11.09 last month. Keystone senior Dan McSurdy will look to win a title at home as he has the third best time at 11.17. In the 200, Shaffer has the top time at 22.14, while sophomore Griffin Rashid Marrow has the second best time at 22.44. McSurdy is third at 22.46.
In the women’s 400, two Gwynedd Mercy runners hold the top times as Moore and senior Cierra Adkins are 1-2 at 55.09 and 59.78, respectively. The men’s 400 will be a battle between Marywood senior Tyler Shotto (49.67) and Keystone junior Carl Joseph (49.74).
PSU-Behrend holds the top three marks in both the men’s and women’s 800, as junior Dylan Buffington is tops with a 1:59.62, while sophomore Katelyn Hancock has a 2:18.44. Hancock holds the top time in the 1500 with a 4:54.95, while PSU-Behrend freshman Christopher Drozynski has a 4:08.26 on the men’s side.
In the 5,000 meter run, Franciscan freshman Matthew Crotteau (16:16.64) and Marywood senior Nick Budinski (16:26.07) hold the top two times, while PSU-Behrend freshman Riley Crissman is tops on the women’s side at 18:46.58, while freshman teammate Jenna Shelton is second at 18:49.81.
In the 10,000 meter run, Crotteau holds the top time at 34:26.43, while Marywood senior Nick Budinski is second at 35:02.40. PSU-Behrend junior Rachel Ramsey is tops on the women’s side at 42:03.11, while Marywood junior Kelby Cole is second at 42:29.36.
In the 100/110 hurdles, PSU-Behrend junior Rachel Pell holds the top mark at 16.06, followed by Keystone sophomore Felicia Hallworth in second at 17.87. On the men’s side, Grafton is tops at 14.98, while junior teammate Marcus Haeseler is second at 15.86.
In the 400 hurdles, Grafton is first on the men’s side at 53.31, followed by Keystone freshman Ty Fenstermacher at 54.31. On the women’s side, Pell is first at 1:04.11, while Franciscan freshman Janelle Lund is second sat 1:08.93.
In the 3000 meter steeple, PSU-Behrend holds the top three times on the men’s side, paced by junior Jarrod Lipsy at 10:00.13. On the women’s side, Keystone sophomore Kristy Hansen has the top time at 12:36.16.
In the field events, Shotto has the top mark in the high jump at 1.91 meters, followed by sophomore teammate Justin Stonier at 1.85. On the women’s side, Gwynedd Mercy sophomore Sara Gray is first at 1.57 meters, with Saunders second at 1.50, along with Immaculata junior Tara Liska.
In the pole vault, PSU-Behrend senior Luke Patten is first at 4.93 meters, followed by freshman teammate Elijah Dangrow at 4.30 and two other PSU-Behrend teammates (Luke Aaron, Kyle Grimm). On the women’s side, sophomore Haley Yenchik is first at 3.51 meters, with senior teammate Maura Costa in second at 3.15.
Turning to the long jump, Gwynedd Mercy freshman Joe McCoy holds the top mark at 6.47 meters, followed by PSU-Behrend freshman Grant Rodgers in second at 6.31. On the women’s side, Allen has the top mark at 4.87 meters, followed by Lunde at 4.83 meters. In the triple, McCoy has the top mark at 13.57 followed by Keystone freshman Eddie Sichilongo at 13.47 meters. The women’s triple jump has Marywood freshman Lindsey Gladden in first at 10.21 meters, while Yenchik is in second at 10.16 meters.
In the throws, PSU-Behrend senior Michell Obenrader has the top mark in the shot put with a throw of 17.38, while Marywood senior Nicholas Marollo is second at 13.12. On the women’s side, Gwynedd Mercy freshman Chyanne Fine is first at 11.58 meters, with Marywood sophomore Alexandria Small in second at 11.09 meters.
Obenrader has the top mark in the discus with a mark of 48.11, followed by Marollo in second at 42.28. Fine leads the women at 36.78, with PSU-Behrend freshman Myeisha Sanders in second at 34.60.
In the hammer, PSU-Behrend junior Anthony Antonucci is first at 46.07 meters, with Obenrader second at 41.96. Smith is first on the women’s side in the hammer at 34.90, while Keystone freshman Jayde Newman in second at 32.73.
In the javelin, Obenrader is first at 61.42 meters while Immaculata senior Thomas Sagendorf is second at 53.63 meters. On the women’s side, Newman is first at 31.17 meters, with Small second at 28.59 meters.
In the decathlon, four will compete on the men’s side as Gwynedd Mercy’s Matt Forsythe, Keystone’s Corey Allegrucci along with Marywood’s Justin Stonier and Tim Hackenberg will participate, with Marywoo’s Tiffany Brzenk and Karly Kaminksy along with Gwynedd Mercy’s Sarah Crane going on the women’s side.
While the relay teams have not been declared yet, PSU-Behrend comes into the meet with the top men’s time in the 4x1 at 42.67, while also holding the top mark on the women’s side at 49.36. In the 4x4, Keystone has the top time on the men’s side at 3:22.74 (set at The Penn Relays), while the Gwynedd Mercy women have the top time at 4:00.33.

LAPLUME, Pa. – Penn State-Behrend won its second straight CSAC Track and Field Championship as they won both the men’s and women’s titles after the two-day championship hosted by Keystone College.
The men finished with a total team score of 280, while the women netted 306 points. Both teams won the championship last year in the inaugural CSAC Track and Field Championship.
Marywood finished second on both sides with scores of 188 on the men’s side and 162 on the women’s side. Host Keystone College was third with 133 points for the men and 100 points for the women.
PSU-Behrend also won all four individual always as Matthew Grafton was named CSAC Track Athlete of the Year, and Mitch Obenrader was named CSAC Field Athlete of the Year. For the women, Katelyn Hancock was named the CSAC Track Athlete of the Year, while Haley Yenchik was named the CSAC Field Athlete of the Year.
Grafton won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.30, while he finished second in the 100 with a time of 11.55 and in the 400 hurdles at 54.35, second in the javelin at 49.18 meters and fifth in the 200 meter dash at 23.16.
Obenrader won the shot put with a mark of 17.56 meters, the discus with a throw of 47.75 meters and the hammer with a toss of 42.56 meters.
Hancock captured the 800 meter run with a time of 2:18.81, the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:35.40 was second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.31 and was second in the 400 meter hurdles at 1:09.33.
Finally, Yenchik won the pole vault at 3.35 meters, the triple jump at 10.82 meters, was second in the long jump at 4.89 meters ad was tied for sixth in the high jump at 1.28 meters.

CSAC HONORS OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD COACHES OF THE YEAR, ALL-CONFERENCE AND ALL-SPORTSMANSHIP TEAMS
ASTON, Pa.-- The Colonial States Athletic Conference has announced the winner of the 2017 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Coaches of the Year, after a vote by the league's head coaches.
Penn State Behrend's
Greg Cooper was the coaches' choice for both the 2017 CSAC Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year awards. He won the award for the second straight season, after winning the inaugural CSAC Track and Field Championships last season.
Cooper's Lions captured the men's and women's team titles at the 2017 CSAC Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship after winning 22 of the 42 events (12 women, 10 men). The Lion women racked up 306 points while the men accumulated 280 points.
The CSAC all-sportsmanship team and all-conference teams also follow below. The all-sportsmanship team honorees were chosen by each team's head coach. The top three finishers in each event at the CSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet earned first team, second team and third team all-conference honors, respectively, while the honorable mention selections are comprised of the fourth through eighth finishers at the championship.
