Penn State Behrend picked first in CSAC Women's Track and Field Coaches' Poll

PENN STATE BEHREND PICKED FIRST IN CSAC WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD COACHES' POLL

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men’s and women’s track and field teams were picked first on both sides of the 2021 CSAC Track and Field Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

On the women’s side, the Lions received 22 points and three first-place votes. Alfred State and Keystone were tied for second with 18 points and one first-place vote each.

Cedar Crest was fourth with ten points, while Notre Dame of Maryland was fifth with seven points.
Penn State Behrend has captured all four CSAC championships since joining the conference as an associate member during the 2015-16 academic year. The 2020 CSAC Championship was not contested due to COVID-19.

All teams will meet for the CSAC Championship on Saturday, May 8, at Keystone College.

2021 Track and Field Athletes of the Week

April 13, 2021
Kiley Marone / So / Cedar Crest College / Mohrsville, Pa. / Tulpehocken HS (Track)
Marone was third in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:27, while finishing second in the 3000 meters with a time of 12:47 to help lead the Falcons to an overall first-place finish in the Keystone Duals. This marked the first dual competition for Cedar Crest.

Myers placed 1st in the pole vault, winning at 2.28m. She placed second in the javelin at 29.25m, second in the long jump at 4.72m (15' 6"), third in shot put at 8.89m, and fifth in the discus at 22.73m.

Ngegba, in her first ever collegiate meet, was ninth in the 100 meter dash at Moravian with a time of 15.31, ran a 32.19 in the 200 meter asnd was part of the 4x1 meter relay team running anchor. The team finished with a time of 59.83.

Miketish, at the Brockport Multi & Invitational, finished fourth in the heptathlon with a total score of 3,623 points. Her performances included: 652 points by running the 800 in 2:33.32, 632 points in the high jump (1.51 m), 619 points in the 100 hurdles (16.80), and 438 points by registering a leap of 4.54 m in the long jump.

Cole posted two CSAC leading times in the 100m dash (13.64) and was part of a 4x4 relay that posted a CSAC best mark of 4:33.80 last week at the St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic.

Felton, at Behrend's home invitational, was third in the javelin with a toss of 30.52 meters.

Alfred State wins 2021 CSAC Women's Track and Field Championship
 

ALFRED STATE WINS 2021 CSAC WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP

LA PLUME, Pa. - Alfred State won its first CSAC Women's Track and Field Championship on Saturday at Keystone College. The PIoneers finished with a totat team score of 247 points. Penn State Behrend finished 2nd (139), Cedar Crest was 3rd (98), Keystone was 4th (70), and Notre Dame of Maryland was 5th (30). Cedar Crest and Notre Dame of Maryland were competing in the championship for the first time. 

Alfred State's Emma Taggart was named the most outstanding track performer of the championship. Taggart won three events. She won the 100 hurdles in 16.23, the long jump with a leap of 4.94 m, and the discus with a toss of 34.31 m. She was also 2nd in the high jump (1.50 m) and 3rd in the shot put (10.00 m).

Penn State Behrend senior Savanna Carr won two events for Behrend today and claimed the CSAC Track Athlete of the Year award. Carr led the way running in the 1500m at 5:24.31 and was the gold finisher in the 5000m run (21:06.13).

CSAC Announces Track and Field End of Year Awards

CSAC ANNOUNCES TRACK AND FIELD END OF YEAR AWARDS

ROSEMONT, Pa. - The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced its 2021 Track and Field End of Year Award winners. Awards include All-CSAC (First-Team, Second-Team and Honorable Mention) as well as Coach of the Year in both men's and women's track and field and 3-D Award.

Athletes earned All-CSAC based on their finish at the 2021 CSAC Track and Field Championship, May 8 at Keystone College.

Men's Track and Field Coach of the Year honors went to Greg Cooper of Penn State Behrend. He led the Lions to their fifth straight CSAC title as they finished first at the CSAC Championships with a score of 340 points. 

Women's Track and Field Coach of the Year honors went to Alec Duncan of Cedar Crest. In the Falcons first appearance at the CSAC Championship, they finished with third a score of 98 points. 

The 3-D Award winner on the women's side was Cedar Crest, while Penn State Behrend won the award on the men's side. Implemented for the 2011-12 academic year, the Colonial States Athletic Conference 3D Award replaced the CSAC Team Sportsmanship Award. The 3D Award recognizes the teams in each sport that best demonstrate the NCAA Division-III philosophy of "Discover, Develop, Dedicate." The 3D Award was conceived and developed by the CSAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
