The 2024-25 academic year will mark Stephanie Dutton’s sixth year as Commissioner of the United East Conference.
Dutton joined the conference, which was formally known as the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC), in January 2017 as the Assistant Commissioner before assuming the Commissioner role in August 2019. Under her leadership, the conference has undergone significant evolution including a full rebrand that culminated with the launch of the United East Conference in the summer 2021 and the completion of a full conference merger with the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) in summer 2023.
In addition to her work in the conference office, Dutton currently serves on the NCAA Division III Strategic Planning and Finance Committee as well as multiple committees within the Division III Commissioners Association (DIIICA).
Prior to joining the conference office, Dutton spent seven years at SUNY Plattsburgh where she held a variety of roles throughout her tenure. She led the Cardinals’ Sports Information Department for four years before shifting to an Assistant Athletic Director role with oversight of compliance, communications, and gameday operations. During her time at Plattsburgh, she also served as Tournament Director for numerous NCAA postseason events, including three NCAA Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Championships.
Before making the jump to intercollegiate athletics, Dutton’s work experience includes two stops in minor league baseball where she worked with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Binghamton Mets, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets.
Dutton received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2006 and a Master’s of Science in Sport Management from SUNY Cortland in 2008.
Outside of her work with the United East, Dutton enjoys traveling, working out, and rooting for the Mets. She resides in Latham, NY with her dog, Jake (and yes, he is named after Jacob deGrom).
