North Eastern Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Regular Season All-Conference Selections
GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern
Athletic Conference (NEAC) concluded the women’s volleyball
season with the Penn State Berks Nittany Lions
capturing the regular season championship after going a perfect
10-0 in conference play (21-7 overall). The NEAC is proud to
announce the regular season award winners and the all-conference
selections. The NEAC consists of 11 women’s volleyball
programs and will honor 21 student-athletes on the three
all-conference teams as listed below, as well as four individual
award winners.
Penn State Berks sophomore Amy Shelton (Birdsboro,
Pa.) has been selected as the NEAC Player of the
Year. A four-time NEAC student-athlete of the week selection,
Shelton totaled 336 kills (3.90/game) on the season and registered
a hit percentage of .364, while also tallying 78 total blocks (57
solo, 21 assisted), 73 digs, 25 serve aces and 14 assists. In
just two seasons at Berks, Shelton has become the school’s
all-time career leader in kills, solo blocks and assisted
blocks. Her head coach, Jessie Franko, was
selected by her peers as the Coach of the Year after leading the
Lions to the regular season conference championship.
The NEAC is also proud to announce two inaugural awards this
season. Keuka College senior libero Hannah Doody
(Tully, NY) was selected as the conference’s
first-ever Defensive Player of the Year after compiling 358 digs
for a team best 4.26 digs per game. Doody won one defensive
student-athlete of the week award this season. Additionally,
Gallaudet University freshman middle hitter Kali Frowick
(Norfolk, Neb.) has been named the conference’s
first Rookie of the Year after being fifth in the NEAC in both
kills (344) and hit percentage (.281). Frowick also
registered 44 aces, 44 blocks (15 solo, 29 assisted) and 22 assists
while earning two All-Tournament honors and one NEAC
student-athlete of the week award this season.
