GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern
Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its 2013 Men’s
Lacrosse All-Conference selections, with first, second and third
team honors being awarded by position to a total of 36
student-athletes, as selected by the conference coaches.
The NEAC has also announced its individual men’s lacrosse
award winners. Keuka College junior Connor Latimer
(Whitby, Ontario, Canada) was named the Offensive Player
of the Year after an outstanding season for Storm. In his
first year with the team, the attacker currently leads all of NCAA
Division III in points per game (6.55) and is second in assists per
game (3.27), while also leading the conference in assists (36) in
addition to being tied for the second-most points in (72) and
fourth in goals (36). A three-time NEAC Offensive
Student-Athlete of the Week section, Latimer scored at least five
points in nine of the Storm’s 11 games this season en route
to being the team’s leader in goals, assists and
points.
Latimer’s teammate, junior defenseman Scott Miller
(Penn Yan, N.Y.), was selected as the NEAC Defensive
Player of the Year after also having a tremendous season for the
Storm. Miller anchored a Storm defense that allowed only 82
goals in 11 games for an average of 7.45 goals per game. Miller
started in all 11 contests this season and forced a team-most 21
turnovers, collected 29 groundballs and added one goal and one
assist. Miller and the Storm held six different opponents under six
goals while limiting the three other NEAC playoff participants to
just 14 goals in their three wins. His efforts on the year earned
him a NEAC Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week
recognition.
Rounding out the individual award winners for the Storm was head
coach Jason Paige, who was selected by his peers
as the NEAC Coach of the Year after leading Keuka to a perfect 7-0
mark in conference play and a 10-1 overall record. Paige also
garnered his 100th career win this season as the coach of the
Storm, who will now enter the NEAC Tournament as the top seed out
of the four-team field.
Morrisville State College freshman Louie Geswaldo
(Lafayette, N.Y.) was selected as the NEAC Rookie of the
Year after a very impactful season for the playoff-bound
Mustangs. Geswaldo led Morrisville State in goals (25),
assists (13) and points (38), while also adding 24 ground balls and
three caused turnovers to his tallies in 12 games. His play
helped the Mustangs secure the fourth and final seed in the NEAC
Tournament.
