NEAC Announces 2014 Men’s Lacrosse All-Conference Selections

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its 2014 Men’s Lacrosse All-Conference selections, with first, second and third team honors being awarded by position to a total of 36 student-athletes, as selected by the conference coaches.

The NEAC has also announced its individual award winners, which were also selected by the conference coaches.  Medaille College senior Brock Levick (Newmarket, Ontario, Canada) was chosen as the NEAC Offensive Player of the Year after another outstanding season for the Mavericks.  The attacker, who was also the most recent NEAC Offensive Player of the Week selection, led the Mavericks and was second in the conference in goals scored with 47, while being tied for fourth in the NEAC in points with 55.  Levick, who won the same honor in 2012, reached 200 career scores this season and did so with a career shooting percentage of 52 percent, helping him finish as the nation’s leader in goals during his first three seasons of play.  Levick also makes his third straight appearance on the NEAC All-Conference First Team.

On the other side of the field, Keuka College senior Scott Miller (Penn Yan, N.Y.) was named the NEAC Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season after another tremendous effort for the Storm. Miller started in all 12 Storm contests and anchored a defense that limited the opposition to 7.18 goals per game, a figure that dropped to 5.57 goals per game in the NEAC, which helped the Storm win its second straight regular season conference title with a 7-0 record while going a perfect 12-0 overall on the season that extended their win streak to 24 straight games. Miller led the Storm with 20 caused turnovers and also collected 17 groundballs while adding a goal and an assist. He caused three or more turnovers in a game four times, helping the three-time defending NEAC Champion Storm hold eight opponents to eight or fewer goals.  Miller also made his fourth straight appearance on the NEAC All-Conference First Team.

The NEAC Rookie of the Year honor went to Hilbert College freshman Brenden Deady (Albany, N.Y.) after a fine season guarding the net for the Hawks.  Deady took over the starting goalkeeper role for the Hawks this season and posted a .578 save percentage with 134 saves and 98 goals allowed, which were all top-five marks in the NEAC. He produced double-digit save totals in seven of his 11 appearances, including twice making 20-plus stops that helped him go 6-3 on the season and helped the Hawks make a return to the NEAC Tournament.  The reigning NEAC Defensive Player of the Week selection, Deady was also named to the All-Conference Third Team.

Rounding out the individual award winners was Medaille College’s Michael Carbery, who was selected by his peers as the NEAC Coach of the Year.  Despite losing five of his top six scorers from a season ago, Carbery still led his squad back to the NEAC Tournament after posting a 4-3 conference record and saw five of his players land on the NEAC All-Conference Team.
