NEAC Announces 2015-16 Men’s Lacrosse All-Conference Selections and Individual Award Winners

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its 2015-16 Men’s Lacrosse All-Conference selections, with first, second and third team honors being awarded by position to a total of 40 student-athletes, as selected by the conference coaches.

The NEAC has also announced its individual award winners, which were also selected by the conference coaches.  The Morrisville State College Mustangs swept all four awards, with senior Louie Geswaldo (LaFayette, N.Y.) being named the NEAC Offensive Player of the Year and classmate Christopher Fiore (Staten Island, N.Y.) earning his second straight NEAC Defensive Player of the Year honor.  Freshman Nick Geswaldo (LaFayette, N.Y.) was also selected as the NEAC Rookie of the Year and head coach Jason Longo claimed NEAC Coach of the Year accolades for the second consecutive season.

Louie Geswaldo, a midfielder, led Morrisville State in scoring with 54 points on 34 goals and 20 assists across 13 games on the year.  All three totals ranked him in the top five in the conference in each category, as he is fourth in both points and goals and fifth in assists. A NEAC Offensive Player of the Week selection, Geswaldo posted seven points in a game twice on the season, once with his program-record-setting six goals and an assist in a win over Hilbert and a second time with four goals and three assists in a victory over Keuka. Geswaldo also landed on the All-Conference Team for the fourth straight season, garnering First Team honors for the second year in a row.

Fiore had another stellar season for the Mustangs, starting all 13 games between the pipes and allowing just 78 goals while turning away 119 shots for a 6.89 goals against average and a 60.4 save percentage.  Fiore also recorded an 84.6 win percentage behind a league-most 11 wins while guarding the net, while making double-digit saves in five separate contests.  Within conference play, Fiore ranked first overall in goals-against average (5.23) and was second in save percentage (62.8). His play throughout the season earned him three NEAC Defensive Player of the Week honors, along with an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player of the Week award and a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) National Division III North Defensive Player of the Week accolade.  Fiore also landed on the All-Conference Team for the third straight season and was a First Team selection for the second straight year.

Nick Geswaldo had an excellent debut season for the Mustangs, notching 34 points on 23 goals and 11 assists offensively to go with 21 ground balls and six caused turnovers from the midfield position.  His point total was the fourth-highest on the team as a freshman while he ranked in the top-20 in each offensive category (points/goals/assists).  Geswaldo also closed the season on a high note, being named the ECAC Rookie of the Week Tuesday in addition to landing on the All-Conference Third Team.

Longo led his defending-champion Mustangs to their second straight NEAC regular season title after going a perfect 8-0 in conference play for the second consecutive season.  The squad also went 11-2 overall as they led the conference in total goals and assists.  Longo also saw nine of his players land on the All-Conference Team.  Longo and his Mustangs will now defend their conference crown as the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NEAC Championship Tournament.
