GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has selected its 2018 Women’s Soccer All-Conference Team with 33 student-athletes receiving the league’s top honors. Penn State Berks and Keuka College were also represented in the four individual awards determined in a vote by the conference coaches.

For the second-straight year, Penn State Berks senior Caitlin Golden (Lumberton, N.J.) has been named the NEAC Player of the Year. The Nittany Lions’ forward leads the conference’s most potent offense with 35 goals and eight assists. With 78 points, Golden has 25 points more than any other player in the NEAC. She also ranks first in the league with six game-winning goals. A consistent top performer, Golden has been named NEAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week on five occasions. She has nine games with three or more goals, including a game against SUNY Poly where she scored four goals and three assists for a season-high 11 points. Golden is also the Division III leader in goals, points and goals per game (1.94).

Renee Vito (Rochester, N.Y.) from Keuka College has been honored as the NEAC Defensive Player of the Year. The Wolves’ rookie has started every game on defense to date and has helped solidify a defense that has allowed just one goal in 11 conference games for a miniscule 0.09 goals-against average. In 16 games thus far, Vito and the Wolves have allowed the second fewest goals in the conference (12) and have a 0.73 goals-against average. Keuka College has only allowed two or more goals on two occasions this season with Vito as the anchor. In addition to her individual award, Vito was named to the All-Conference First Team.

Keuka College’s Jessica Pegg (Rochester, N.Y.) has been selected as the NEAC Rookie of the Year after an outstanding season in goal. Pegg has started all 16 games and allowed just one goal against conference opponents in the regular season. The five-time NEAC Defensive Player of the Week ranks second in the league in wins (12), goals-against average (0.79) and save percentage (.857). The First Team All-Conference goalkeeper also ranks eighth with 72 saves. She has had double-digit saves in three games with her season-high 13 saves coming in the second game of the year at Hartwick. Pegg also made 11 stops against defending champion Penn State Berks in the final stretch of the season to help the Wolves secure the NEAC Regular Season Title.

In just her second season, Keuka College Head Coach Jessica Shufelt has been named NEAC Coach of the Year. Shufelt was voted the league’s top coach for the first time in her career after leading the Wolves to their first regular season title since 2008. Keuka College set a new program record with 10 conference victories and its 12 overall wins are currently tied for fourth-most in program history. The Wolves, who have five All-NEAC honorees, also set a school record with a 10-game win streak during the season.
