NEAC Announces 2019 Men's Lacrosse All-Conference Team and Awards

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its 2019 Men’s Lacrosse All-Conference Team with 40 student-athletes receiving first, second and third team honors. The NEAC also recognized four individual award-winners, which are determined in a vote by the conference coaches.

Morrisville State’s Nick Geswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.) has been named NEAC Offensive Player of the Year for the second time in his career after wrapping up the regular season as the conference leader in goals and points. The Mustangs’ attacker enters the postseason with 51 goals and 70 points, including 37 points in games against conference opponents. Geswaldo also leads the NEAC with nine man-up goals, 146 shots and 84 shots on goal. He posted a single-game high of 13 points in a non-conference win over Mt. St. Vincent on March 27 and scored nine points against Hilbert College on April 17 for his highest offensive output in league play. In addition to his offensive numbers, Geswaldo has picked up 36 ground balls and recorded nine caused turnovers. This year’s award caps an outstanding career for the Morrisville State senior as Geswaldo is a four-time All-NEAC selection, was honored as the NEAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2017 and was named the NEAC Rookie of the Year in 2016.

Brendan Boles (Goshen, N.Y.) from Morrisville State has been selected as the NEAC Defensive Player of the Year as the anchor of the Mustangs’ defense in 2019. The senior defender collected 22 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers in 14 regular season games. In conference play, Boles has totaled 12 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers. The All-Conference First Team defender recorded a season-high five caused turnovers on two occasions and also had a season-high four ground balls against SUNY Cortland. Boles served as a key piece of the defensive unit that ranked second in the league with a 7.57 goals-against average and allowed 53 goals against NEAC opponents.

Keuka College’s Connor Cupp (Bath N.Y.) receives NEAC Rookie of the Year honors after proving to be one of the top offensive threats in the league this season. The Wolves’ rookie attacker leads his team in goals, assists and points while ranking third in the NEAC with 63 points. Cupp also ranks third among conference players in assists (27), fourth in goals (36) and fourth in man-up goals (6). After opening the 2019 season with 12 points in his first two collegiate games, Cupp was honored with the first NEAC Offensive Player of the Week award of the year. Through 13 games, he has also recorded 14 ground balls and five caused turnovers. Cupp is one of five freshmen to receive All-NEAC honors and is the only one to receive All-Conference Second Team accolades.

Morrisville State College head coach Jason Longo is the NEAC Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career after guiding the Mustangs to their fifth-straight regular season conference crown. For the fourth time in the last five years, Longo’s team has finished the regular season undefeated against its league foes. In conference play, Morrisville State is the league-leader in goals (130), man-up goals (15), ground balls (334), caused turnovers (121) and goals per game (18.57) while also allowing the fewest goals (53). In addition to taking three major awards, the Mustangs received seven All-NEAC selections in 2019.
