St. Mary's College Claims Men's Cross Country Title

LANCASTER, Pa. - The United East held its 2021 Men’s Cross Country Championship Saturday morning on the campus of Lancaster Bible College. The 8-kilometer course was a bit soggy for the runners as eight member institutions took their marks.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland claimed the team title as they finished with an average time of 29:15.20. THey were followed closely by Penn State Harrisburg (avg. 30:15.74) and SUNY Morrisville (30:38.20). Rounding out the pack was host Lancaster Bible in fourth, Penn State Berks in fifth, Penn College in sixth and Gallaudet in seventh.

Individually it was Morrisville’s Peyton Jones who crossed the finish line first as his time of 27:40.50 earned him Runner of the Year honors. Just over 12 seconds behind him was St. Mary’s College’s Logan Musumeci, who took home Rookie of the Year honors with a time of 27:52.40. Harrisburg’s Jordan Payne rounded out the top three as he clocked a 28:07.40.

Penn State Berks’ top runner was Patrick O’Donnell, who took sixth overall. Alec Rees of Penn College was the top Wildcat finisher, earning 17th with a time of 30:41.60. Penn State Abington’s top finisher was Jacob Landry (30th place / 32:13.90) while Gallaudet University’s was Jack Kalil (47th place / 36:32.00).

At the race's conclusion, Reava Potter of St. Mary’s College was crowned the Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year.
