Since joining the conference in 2009, the Mustangs have never hoisted the hardware at the end of the race, coming as close as second place in 2012. The squad saw its top five runners all finish in the top-15, led by James Farmer-Valente whose time of 29:04.03 earned him fifth place overall. At the conclusion of the race, Derek Powers also was tabbed the 2022 Coach of the Year.
Last year’s winners, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, took home second place. The Seahawks were paced by Michael Wade who crossed the finish line in 28:01.81, good enough for second overall. Right behind them was Penn College, led by Mitchell Campbell who nabbed third place with a time of 28:37.54.
In fourth came Lancaster Bible, a team that boasted the race's top overall finisher, Mitchell Gray. Gray made light work of the course, finishing the race in 27:14.11 which was nearly a minute faster than any other competitor. Also earning an award was Alex McWilliams, who was named the United East Elite 14 Award winner as he turned in a GPA of 4.000 with a double major in Pastoral Studies and Bible Studies.
Rounding out the team finishes were Penn State Harrisburg in fifth, Penn State Berks in sixth, Penn State Abington in seventh and Gallaudet in eighth.
All-Conference recognition was earned by the top-14 runners, with the top seven collecting First Team honors and the next seven earning Second Team honors. Check out all 14 HERE:
