Four Teams Advance in United East Men's Soccer Opening Round Games

LATHAM, N.Y. - The divisional semifinals are set after Saturday’s First Round games in the 2023 United East Women’s Soccer Championships.

Volt Division - #4 St. Mary’s def. #5 Penn College, 5-1 - Box Score

The Seahawks scored four goals in the opening 45 minutes and ran away to a 5-1 victory over the visiting Wildcats from Penn College.  Jack Nelson (5th minute), Alex Ochman (10th minute), Braden Kindred (23rd minute), Franco Reyes (42nd minute), and Zack Glime (48th minute) tallied for St. Mary’s as they outshot Penn College 23-8 (12-4 SOG) on the afternoon.  Cooper Smith had the goal from a penalty kick in the 70th minute for the Wildcats. St. Mary’s advances to play at Penn State Abington on Monday, October 30.

Volt Division - #3 Lancaster Bible College  def. #6 Penn State Berks, 3-0 - Box Score

Lancaster Bible hosted Penn State berks and picked up a 3-0 victory over visiting Penn State Berks on Saturday evening.  Dan Marcroft (34th minute), Ben Nolt (66th minute), Andrew Cox (78th minute) got on the scoresheet for the Chargers as they outshot the Lions 30-2 (13-0 SOG).  Lancaster Bible advances to play at Penn State Harrisburg on Monday, October 30 looking to avenge a 2-1 loss earlier in the season.

Skye Division - #3 St. Elizabeth University def. #6 Notre Dame of Maryland, 4-2 - Box Score

The scoring started early and often as St. Elizabeth and Notre Dame combined for four goals in the first 10 minutes of the match.  Sebastian Londono had two goals in the first 7 minutes as the Eagles raced to a 2-0 lead.  Not to be outdone, Myles Tanksley scored in the 7th minute and Tassilo Lehmkuhl equalized in the 9th minute as the Gators evened the score up at 2-2.  The game stayed tied until Londono netted his hat trick in the 53rd minute for a 3-2 lead and Bryan Cervantes added a fourth in the 72nd minute to get to the final score of 4-2.  The Eagles advance to play at Cairn University on Monday, October 30.  The two teams tied 0-0 earlier in the season.

Skye Division - #5 Keystone College def. #4 Bryn Athyn College, 3-2 - Box Score

Keystone went on the road to Bryn Athyn and came out with a 3-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.  Hernan Godoy had a brace (3rd minute; 46th minute) and opened the scoring for the Giants before Mike Carmody equalized in the 8th minute as the game settled into a 1-1 tie.  CJ Lampert (35th minute) scored before half, and Godoy added his second to open up a 3-1 lead.  Tim Ragan brought the game to 3-2 in the 82nd minute before the Giants were able to kill off the clock and move on to Monday’s semifinal at Rosemont.
