ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Gallaudet University women’s volleyball team defeated Cedar Crest College, 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 27-25, 31-29), in the United East Crossover Championship. With the victory, the Bison were not only crowned United East champions but also earned the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Championship.
A close battle found the Bison coming out on top, led by Natalie Clayberg who was tabbed the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. The outside finished the day with a team-high 22 kills while adding 16 digs. Cassidy Perry (17) and Anya Pothorski (13) also chipped in as each finished with double-digit kills. Ella Gamble contributed from the setter position, finishing the day with 54 assists.
Defensively, Leila Sicoli commanded the back row as she dug a team-high 27 balls. At the net, Pothorski and Perry combined for a total of 11 blocks.
For the Falcons, Maddison Minyo led the squad with 18 kills. Ellise Everett had a monster day from the middle, blocking 10 attacks.
