St. Mary's College Men's Soccer Concludes Historic Run

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s soccer team fell, 1-0, to John Carroll University on Saturday in the opening round of the NCAA Championship. The loss concludes the Seahawks historic run as they end with a record of 11-7-4 and the title of United East Champions.

Play was relatively even throughout the first half as St. Mary’s College was able to put a pair of shots on net but both were saved. Scoreless through the beginning of the second half, John Carroll broke through with a goal in the 78th minute. Elliot Hodges was able to retaliate with a shot on target in the 80th but it was turned aside and that was the last attempt the Seahawks put on net.

Matthew Kopsidas was saddled with the loss in net, allowing just the single goal but stopping five shots in the process.
