Top Seeds Advance to Divisional Finals in Women's Volleyball

LATHAM, N.Y. - The divisional finals are set after Tuesday’s Semifinal Round games in the 2023 United East Women’s Volleyball Championships.

Volt Division - #2 Lancaster Bible college def. #4 Penn State Harrisburg, 3-2 - Box Score

Lancaster Bible needed five sets to advance (25-20, 25-19, 25-27, 23-25, 15-7) but they held off a furious Harrisburg rally and will move on to Thursday night’s Volt Division final at Gallaudet.  After taking the first two sets, Lancaster Bible had two match points but Harrisburg fought them off to win the 3rd and 4th sets to force a deciding 5th set.  A 7-0 run in the 5th at 5-5 pushed the match to 12-5 in advantage of the home Chargers before ultimately finishing 15-7 in the 5th.  Chloe KIng had a double-double (10 kills, 30 digs), Leah Helman had 6 aces, and Jessica Fletcher had 17 kills to lead the Chargers.  For the Nittany Lions, Hannah DeGRegory had a double-double (11 kills, 17 assists) and Julia Choe had 28 digs.

Volt Division - #1 Gallaudet University def. #6 St. Mary’s College of Maryland, 3-0 - Box Score

Gallaudet University advanced to host Thursday night’s Volt Division final against Lancaster Bible with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-23) victory over St. Mary’s College of Maryland on Tuesday night.  For the Bison, Ella Gamble had 36 assists and 4 kills on 12 attempts with no errors, Citrine Lummer had 12 kills, Natalie Clayberg had 11 kills, and Cassidy Perry racked up 11 kills on a .455 hitting percentage. For the Seahawks, Alayna Sievert had 3 aces and Julia Bobrowski had 10 kills to close the season.
 
Skye Division -  #2 Notre Dame College def. #3 Keystone College, 3-1 - Box Score

Notre Dame of Maryland needed four sets to defeat Keystone (23-25, 30-28, 25-13, 25-22) on Tuesday in the Skye Division semi-finals.  Keystone took the first set 25-23 and was close to taking the second before Notre Dame fought off four set points starting at 24-22 to eventually win the 2nd set 30-28 and swing the momentum firmly in the Gators’ favor.  The Gators were balanced across the floor with Ciarra Bockstie swinging at a .379 percentage (16K-5E-29TA), Shelbey Willson had 22 assists, Natalie Newton had 20 assists, Paulina Hernandez picked up 33 digs, and Jade Stewart had 25 digs. The Giants were led by Rebecca Jackson’s double-double (12 kills and 18 digs).  Notre Dame moves on to the Skye Division final at Cedar Crest on Thursday evening.

Skye Division -  #1 Cedar Crest College def. #5 Cairn University, 3-0 - Box Score

Ellise Everett hit .368 on the evening (10-3-19), Ava Graspy had 6 aces, 15 assists, and 6 kills, and Rebekka Sanchez-Castro picked up 20 digs and an ace as the Falcons rolled into the Skye Division final against Notre Dame on Thursday night with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-23) win over Cairn.  Olivia Zepp had 23 assists for the Highlanders.
