Lancaster Bible Clinches Men's Basketball Title

LANCASTER, PA. -  The top-seeded Lancaster Bible College men’s basketball team defeated No. 3 Penn State Abington, 87-67, Saturday evening earning the title of United East Champions. The Chargers, who hold a current record of 20-7, will now represent the conference in the upcoming 2023 NCAA Division III National Championship.

Tournament selection show will take place at 12:30 PM on Monday. Find the link to the selection show HERE: NCAA SELECTION SHOW

Lancaster Bible came right out of the gates with some offensive pressure, as the Chargers opened the game on a 10-0 run. They would maintain that lead throughout the duration of the period but Abington chipped away narrowing the deficit to just four at the halftime buzzer. The restart benefited the Chargers though as they went  on another run, this time 8-0, to open up the second. Abington attempted to keep it close but Tournament Most Valuable Player, Jordan Shewbridge hit four second half 3’s to help stave off any comeback attempt.

Shewbridge finished the evening with a season-high 39, including six from beyond the arc. The big men also pitched in as Adam Stoltzfus finished with 12 and Andrew Zentner with 11. Seth Beers helped run the point as he ended with a team-high five assists.

Alex Salata III had a dominant game for Penn State Abington as the senior finished with a team-high 29 points. Brian Randolph III also performed well accruing a douuble-double on 18 points and 12 boards. Abington finishes the season with a record of 18-9.
