United East Athletes of the Week - November 25, 2024

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for November 25, 2024.  Today will include Athletes of the Week for Men’s and Women’s Basketball.  This week’s selections included contests from Monday, November 18 through Sunday, November 24.  A total of four student-athletes were recognized for their performances.

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Jordan Carpenter / Gr / Penn State Harrisburg / Chester, Va. / Matoaca HS / University of Mary Washington

    Carpenter continued to show her early season dominance as she helped her Lions to a 1-1 record on the week. The transfer forward averaged a double-double across the two games, registering 17 points per game and 11 boards. Shooting 43% from the field, Carpenter piled up points from the charity stripe as well as she cashed in 14 of her 16 attempts. While not scoring herself, the Chester, Va. native did well to distribute as she recorded six assists.

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Cam Lexow / SO / Gallaudet University / Abington, Pa. / Abington HS

    Lexow had a solid week for the Gallaudet women's basketball team that posted a 2-1 record. The sophomore guard finished the week with 50 points, 25 rebounds, 16 steals, 13 assists and eight blocked shots. Lexow scored a season-high 24 points on 10 of 16 shooting from the field (including two 3-pointers) in a home win over Russell Sage College last Friday. In that game, Lexow made four blocks, seven steals, passed out four assists and grabbed nine rebounds. Lexow just missed out on double-doubles in GU's two home wins over Trinity Washington University (14 pts., 9 rebs.) and Russell Sage (24 pts., 9 rebs.). 

  • Offensive Player of the Week

    Livingston Cross / Sr / Penn College / Union, N.J. /Union HS

    Cross has been unstoppable since the season began, posting his fourth and fifth double-double on the season against Lebanon Valley and King's. The senior guard averaged 25 points and 17 boards on the week, while adding one assist, one block and one steal. Against the Dutchmen on Wednesday, Cross dropped 25 points on 9-19 shooting and grabbed 16 of his 18 rebounds on the defensive end. On Saturday, Cross was the lone Wildcat to reach double-digits with 25 points on 10-21 shooting and corraled 16 boards against the Monarchs.

     

    Defensive Player of the Week

    Josiah Hardy / Gr / Cairn University / Ashburn, Va. / Gonzaga College HS

    Hardy made his Cairn debut this week, racking up 6 blocked shots, 18 rebounds, and a pair of steals on the defensive end in two games this week. Against William Paterson on Wednesday night, he swatted a career-high four blocked shots and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. On Saturday, Hardy followed up with two blocks and got his weekly points total to 34. Hardy has the second most blocks in a single game this season among United East players.
