Men's Basketball Divisonal Finals are Set after Monday Night

LATHAM, N.Y. - The divisional finals are set after Monday’s Second Round games in the 2024 United East Men’s Basketball Championships.

Volt Division - #1 Penn State Harrisburg def. #4 Penn College, 92-79 - Box Score

Penn State Harrisburg rallied from a second-half deficit to outlast Penn College 92-79 on the back of Donyae Baylor-Carroll’s 42-point performance.  The Nittany Lions blocked 11 shots on the night as they held the Wildcat’s Gavin Barrett, fresh off of consecutive triple-doubles, to just 15 points on the night.  Nate Curry just missed a double-double for Harrisburg with 17 points and 9 rebounds.  For Penn College, Livingston Cross had 26 points while Landon Reeder had 15 and 8 rebounds.  Harrisburg moves on to host St. Mary’s College of Maryland on Wednesday evening in the Volt Division Championship game.

Volt Division - #3 St. Mary’s College of Maryland def. #2 Lancaster Bible College, 80-75 - Box Score

Monday night’s game in Lancaster saw 10 ties and 10 lead changes but St. Mary’s was able to pull away late and snag a win on the road to advance to Wednesday’s Volt Division Championship game.  St. Mary’s shot 49% from the field (25-51) including 73% from the free-throw line (27-37).  Daryn Alexander had 28 points, 8 boards, and 6 steals while Gary Grant chipped in 14 points with 7 rebounds.  For the Chargers, Grant Sareyka led the way with 16 points while Maureon Tisdale-Couch had 12 points and 5 rebounds.  St. Mary’s advances to play at Penn State Harrisburg for the Volt Division championship on Wednesday evening. 

Skye Division - #3 St. Elizabeth University def. #2 Bryn Athyn College, 69-66 - Box Score

Nate Thompson finished a layup with 0:09 left in the game, Jonathan Ramos added a free-throw, and St. Elizabeth pulled out a tough 69-66 victory on the road at Bryn Athyn on Monday night.  A game with 8 ties and 6 lead changes, St. Elizabeth capitalized on 20 turnovers for 25 points while Bryn Athyn had 38 points in the paint and 16 second chance points.  Thompson finished with 21 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, and 4 steals.  D’Angelo Blackmond double-doubled with 12 points, 10 rebounds and blocked three shots while Tye-Rell Monroe had 12 points and a steal.  For the Lions, Jakir Hampton had 15 points and 8 rebounds, Will Little had 15 points and 6 rebounds, and Jalen Jackson had 14 points and 2 steals.  Saint Elizabeth will travel to Wilson College on Wednesday evening for the Skye Division final.

Skye Division - #1 Wilson College vs. #4 Keystone College, 91-78 - Box Score

Keystone had a lead in the second half with 11 minutes to go but Wilson finished strong and pulled away for a 91-78 victory over the visiting Giants.  Four Wilson players finished in double figures as Tyrik Ward-Hoyte and Ethan Wilson each scored 22 points.  Darryl Garib had 18 points and 9 rebounds while Gary Robertson had 13 points, 7 assists and four rebounds.  Keystone was led by Jack Anderson who tallied 19 points and 3 rebounds.  Kamdyn Ayers and Brandon Scott both scored 17 points and combined for 14 rebounds.  D’Andre Sutherland had a game-high 16 boards.  Wilson moves on to host the Skye Division final against Saint Elizabeth on Wednesday evening.
