Women's Basketball Divisonal Finals are Set after Monday Night

LATHAM, N.Y. - The divisional semifinals are set after Monday's Second Round games in the 2024 United East Women’s Basketball Championships.

Skye Division - #2 Saint Elizabeth University vs. #3 Bryn Athyn College, 56-51 - Box Score
Saint Elizabeth overcame an eight-point halftime deficit and pulled away in the 4th quarter to advance to the Skye Division finals with a 56-51 victory over Bryn Athyn.  SEU outrebounded the Lions 64-53 (29-12 on the offensive glass) and had 18 second chance points  The Eagles created 25 turnovers, including 19 steals, to generate 20 points off turnovers. Destiny Battle triple-doubled with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 steals while Aryanna Baytops had 11 rebounds and 3 steals.  The LIons were led by Zhymani Smith’s 22 points while Alexa Osafo-Mensah chipped in 11 rebounds.  The Eagles move on to face Notre Dame of Maryland on Wednesday night in the Skye Division championship game. 

Skye Division - #1 Notre Dame of Maryland University vs. #5 Cairn University, 65-61 - Box Score
Cairn was up by one 54-53 with 5 minutes to go on the road at top-seeded Notre Dame of Maryland, but the Gators closed strong and pulled out a hard-fought win 65-61 to move on to the Skye Division Final on Wednesday evening.  Hillary Howard had 26 points on 10-18 shooting to go with 9 rebounds and 2 steals while Alexis Jones pulled down 14 rebounds.  Chantel Curry handed out 5 assists for the Gators.  Taylor Hinson led the way for Cairn with 23 points, 14 rebounds and 3 blocks while Ella Quince added 19 points and a career-high tying 9 steals.  Dezaray Bright had 15 rebounds as well.  Notre Dame of Maryland will now host the Skye Division championship on Wednesday as they welcome Saint Elizabeth to town.

Volt Division - #1 Penn State Harrisburg vs. #4 St. Mary’s College, 59-44 - Box Score
Penn State Harrisburg led wire-to-wire and pulled away late to claim a 59-44 victory over the visiting St. Mary’s Seahawks on Monday night.  Harrisburg was led by Giahny Correa’s 18 points on 8-14 shooting while Ciani Redd-Howard double-doubled with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Bailey Oehmig also pulled in 11 boards for the Nittany Lions.  Tramarie Mobray recorded a double-double St. Mary’s with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Amira Whitaker had 11 points.   Penn State Harrisburg will host Penn State Abington in the Volt Division final on Wednesday evening.

Volt Division - #3 Penn State Abington def. #2 Gallaudet University , 91-87 - Box Score
Kaya Mobley hit two free throws with 0:07 left on the clock in front of a raucous environment at Gallaudet as Penn State Abington ran out of Washington D.C. with a 91-87 win and a place in Wednesday’s night’s Volt Division Championship game.  Abington led 81-64 in the 4th quarter and survived a furious comeback from the Bison as Gallaudet had the ball and a couple of chances to tie the game late.  For the Nittany Lions, Angela Sanders had 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals while Mobley double-doubled with 14 points and 15 assists.  For the Bison, Cassidy Perry had another double-double with 29 points and 17 rebounds and Olivia Brown picked up a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Abington moves on to Wednesday evening’s Volt Division Final at Penn State Harrisburg.
