Women's Basketball 2/24/2024 5:00:00 PM Penn State Harrisburg Captures United East Title in Women's Basketball LATHAM, N.Y. - Penn State Harrisburg has won the 2024 United East Women’s Basketball Championship after defeating Saint Elizabeth University 64-54 on Saturday afternoon at Saint Elizabeth. With the win, the squad also earns the automatic qualifier and will represent the conference in the upcoming 2024 NCAA Championship. This will be the first NCAA Tournament appearance for Harrisburg’s women’s basketball program. Penn State Harrisburg will learn their opponent and where they are heading for the NCAA Tournament during the NCAA Selection Show which premiers on Monday at 2:30 p.m. No. 1 Penn State Harrisburg (Volt) def. No. 2 Saint Elizabeth University (Skye), 64-54 - Box Score Penn State Harrisburg took a 32-25 lead into halftime but a big push to start the 3rd quarter saw Saint Elizabeth come back to take the lead 47-46 with 2 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. Harrisburg quickly re-took the lead and held off the Eagles throughout the 4th quarter as the Nittany Lions advanced with a 64-54 victory. The bench points for Harrisburg were the difference as the Nittany Lions bench had 23 points to SEU’s nine. Harrisburg was led by Ciani Redd-Howard’s double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds. Giahny Correa and Jenna Montana each had a game-high 13 points as well. Saint Elizabeth was led by Yasminah White’s 16 points and Laila Kendle’s 11 rebounds. Destiny Battle had 8 steals and Mya Davis contributed 12 points.
