LATHAM, N.Y. - Mikey Gutierrez of the Cairn University baseball team has been named to the D3baseball.com National Team of the Week for the week ending on April 7, 2024. Gutierrez becomes the first United East baseball player to earn the recognition this season.

Gutierrez picked a complete game (7.0 IP) shutout victory over Rosemont on Saturday, helping improve the Highlanders record to 8-4 in Skye Division play. The righty hurler allowed just a single hit for the Ravens while fanning seven. The CG win is the second-straight for Gutierrez as he picked up a win over Wilson College on March 30.

This season, the first year has struck out 38 batters over 41.1 innings of work. His ERA of 2.83 is ranked third in the United East among qualifying pitchers.

Cairn will look to improve upon its conference record as the Highlanders take on Saint Elizabeth University this weekend in a three game series.
