United East Announces 2025 Field Hockey Major Awards & All-Conference Teams

LATHAM, Pa. - The United East Conference has announced its All-Conference Teams and Major Award winners in the sport of Field Hockey. Both All-Conference teams are made up of seven offensive players, four defensive players and one goalie. Additionally, the conference has named its Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year.

Player of the Year - Ami Mattingly (Penn State Harrisburg)

Defensive Player of the Year - Jena Vanskiver (St. Mary’s College of Maryland)

Rookie of the Year - Faith Musser (Penn State Harrisburg)

Coach of the Year - AJ Misselhorn (Penn State Harrisburg)

Its been a banner year for the fifth year transfer from Saint Francis University as Mattingly led the conference in most offensive statistics. She averaged 1.80 goals-per-game which not only led the United East but also currently ranks second in the country. Her points-per-game (3.93) mimicked that as they led the league and also rank second in Division III. Mattingly scored in every game but two, racking up 27 goals on the season. The Mechanicsburg, Pa. native had one of her top outings in a win over Lancaster Bible as she registered a hat trick and assisted on two others. This season, Mattingly was tabbed the United East Offensive Player of the Week on three occasions.

Vanskiver has been a stalwart on the Seahawk defense, helping the squad achieve a Regular Season Title for the second time in as many years. Defense played a huge part in that achievement as Vanskiver helped shutout every single conference opponent and hold her United East foes to just six shots on net combined. The senior also prevented a number of goals herself, posting a league-leading seven defensive saves. To add to her impressive resume, she collected four goals and a pair of assists.

Musser was a key to the Harrisburg midfield, starting in 14 of the 15 games played. The first year player tucked away two goals on the season but acted as more of a playmaker as she piled up six assists. Her assist total was tied for sixth-most in the conference. Musser produced a three-game multipoint streak in the middle of the season, highlighted by a one goal, one assist outing in a win over Washington & Jefferson.

Misselhorn has done tremendous work with the Harrisburg field hockey program as they improved nicely in the second year as a program. She guided them to a 13-3 record which included an eight-game win streak in the middle of the season. Defensively, she helped orchestrate eight shutouts which ranks fifth in the nation (0.6 Shutouts-per-game). Her efforts also helped get eight players All-Conference recognition including the Player and Rookie of the Year.
