Harrisburg Concludes Season in the Opening Round of the NCAA Championship

WALTHAM, MA - The Penn State Harrisburg men’s soccer team fell to Tufts University, 5-0, Saturday in the opening round of the 2025 NCAA Championship. The Lions conclude a strong season with the title of United East Champions.

The two teams battled in the first 20 minutes of the match before Tufts scored on a penalty kick. Two minutes later, Tufts struck again, going up on the Lions 2-0. Harrisburg’s Alexander Benbatoul was able to get a shot up on the goal in the 33rd minute, but Tufts’ goalkeeper prevented the Lions from finding the back of the net. The Jumbos scored again in the 40th minute of play and were able to maintain their 3-0 lead throughout the remainder of the half. Harrisburg’s goalkeeper, Erik Rodriguez, tallied 3 saves.

Tufts extended their lead in the 52nd minute to hold a firm 4-0 lead over Harrisburg. The Lions worked to get on the board, but Tufts held them off. The Jumbos scored once more to ultimately earn the victory, 5-0. Rodriguez ended the match with 6 saves in the net.
