LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for November 24, 2025. Today will include Players of the Week from Men's and Women's Basketball.
This week’s selections included contests through Sunday, November 23. A total of four student-athletes from three different member institutions were recognized for their performances.
Men’s Basketball
Offensive Player of the Week
Jaylon Simpson / GR / Cairn University / Atlanta, Ga. / Campbell
Simpson scored 28 points in back-to-back games this week, opening with a win at Lebanon Valley College as he went 5-8 from deep and 10-17 from the field. On Saturday at #9 Christopher Newport, the graduate guard once again had his way with 4 made triples along with 8-10 shooting from the free throw line for his third-straight 25+ point game. Simpson is now the front runner in scoring among the league, leading in points and points/game as well tied for the most three-pointers made (19).
This is Simpson's first ever weekly accoalde.
Defensive Player of the Week
Armani Jones / SR / Wilson College / Chicago, Ill. / Christ the King Prep
Jones had his best week of the season thus far as he helped lead Wilson to a split week while averaging 19.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. He opened with 14 points and nine rebounds, all defensive, as the Phoenix defeated Mount Aloysius for their first win of the season. He followed up with a 24 point, nine rebound outing against Messiah in Wilson's home opener on Saturday. He had a steal in each game as well as two blocks against the Falcons.
This is Jones' first weekly accolade of the seaosn and his third all time (02/10/25, 12/23/24).
Women’s Basketball
Offensive Player of the Week
Mikayla Coleman / SO / Penn State Harrisburg / Manchester, Pa. / Northeastern
Mikayla Coleman led the way for Penn State Harrisburg's offense last week, getting up 43 shots across two contests. She scored 14 points, 11 of which came in the fourth quarter, in a 76-43 loss to Gettysburg on Tuesday night and finished with a game-high 32 points in a 74-69 overtime loss to Alvernia on Friday night.
This is Coleman's first ever weekly accoalde.
Defensive Player of the Week
Dezaray Bright / JR / Cairn University / Keystone Heights, Fla. / Keystone Heights
Bright was a key defensive piece for the Highlanders this week helping the team go 1-1. She'd rack up four blocked shots, 8 steals (including a career-high 7 steals against Bryn Mawr), and 17 boards.
This is Bright's first ever weekly accoalde.
