Top Seeds Advance to Women's Soccer Championship Final

LATHAM, N.Y. - The 2025 United East Women’s Soccer Championship Final is set as the pair of semifinal matchups were completed on Tuesday evening. Second-seeded St. Mary’s College of Maryland defeated No. 3 Penn College, 2-0, in the first game of the day while top-seeded Penn State Harrisburg won, 2-0, against No. 5 Penn State Berks.

Harrisburg will now host St. Mary’s College in the Championship Final which will take place on Saturday with a time to be determined. This is a rematch of last year’s Final as the Lions defeated the Seahawks in penalty kicks.

No. 1 Penn State Harrisburg def. No. 5 Penn State Berks, 4-0 (BOX SCORE)

After a scoreless first half, Harrisburg was able to finally get a goal on the scoreboard. Abigail Frew sent a low cross that found Diana Pon at the six-yard box. Pon was able to stick out her foot to redirect the ball over the Berks keeper’s head, giving the Lions the lead in the 52nd minute. Harrisburg doubled up its lead just a couple minutes later courtesy of Ava Myers. Pon sent in a corner that found Frew in the box. Frew deflected the ball towards Myers who flicked the ball into the back of the net.

The lead was moved to 3-0 after a red card removed the Penn State Berks goalie from the game and Harrisburg's Kara Slavin was able to convert a PK. The fourth goal was then tacked on with just over two minutes left as Katelyn Monette took advantage of a cold backup keeper.

No. 2 St. Mary’s College of Maryland def. No. 3 Penn College, 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Two first half goals earned the Seahawks a victory, punching their ticket to the Championship final for the second time in as many years. Just nine minutes in, St. Mary’s College earned a throw-in deep in Wildcat territory and got the ball to the endline. A nifty move by Maddison Spradlin allowed her to cross the ball in where it found the foot of Keira O’Neail. O’Neail sent a shot back across the net that made it 1-0. Felicia Fishbourne then made it 2-0 in the 36th minute as Spradlin collected her second assist on the day.

The Wildcats got a pair of shots on target but Kyleigh Bland turned both aside to earn a shutout victory. Penn College’s Morgan Solano made seven saves in the loss.
